A New Stormtrooper?
Everyone’s favorite (and perhaps only) German collecting toy website, 4-inches.de has an image of a Stormtrooper with a clonesque paint scheme:

Could it be a new Stormtrooper? 4inches.de says:
The picture down shows a still unknown Stormtrooper with red markings. The Visor is green. It has a regular Stormtrooper Blaster as weapon. The Holster seems to be white, like the armament also. It is not Custom.
First of all, Babel Fish works a lot better than I thought it would. Secondly, they really didn’t give us much insight here. So what is it? I’m putting my money on a figure from the game The Force Unleashed.
Do you have any particular thoughts on this new thing of painting Stormtroopers’ armor? The enormous success of the prequels Clone Troopers is obviously what is causing this surge in making different Stormtroopers which is cool and all, but the purist in me is almost against this simply based on the fact that we never see any Stormtroopers in the films with any other armor besides white. I know it’s stupid, but I’m slightly afraid that now that the door has been opened with the Black Hole Stormtrooper, there’s going to be 8 million trooper variants and I’m going to need them all. Please, for the love of my sanity don’t let this happen Hasbro.
Anyway, time will only tell us what this Stormtrooper is. Thanks to the Germans for the heads up and the extra post material. It’s a slow news week.

Correct, there are some lines you just don’t cross. I’m a purist too and I’m failing it 100%.
Besides, this sort of thing is just too difficult to plausibly retcon at this point. But then Hasbro can make some fans swallow anything. And in the end, those are the only ones that really matter.

I’ve actually wondered that: in the Clone Wars, we see all sorts of colored armor. Why, then, 20 years later, have they all gone all-white? Was there a crackdown in the ranks, due to too many Troopers going crazy? Did someone take advantage of the policy and ruin it for everyone else? What happened!? I smell an EU story in the works!

Here’s the Expanded Universe story for this one: George Lucas and Hasbro figured out they could make a lot more money by also having a cornucopia of rainbow colored stormtroopers. Now they’ll all be “off-screen” stormtroopers until they’re digitally added in the 40th Anniversary DVD or Blu-ray editions of the movies. Ok, that may actually be a plausible universe story.
By the way that blood-red paint on his mask makes the stormtrooper seem ten times as scary.

This is starting to get on my nerves. They couldn’t even eek out a legitimately new design for this 1000th variant? (Assuming it’s legit.) Instead they just painted racing stripes on a regular Stormtrooper? Give me a break.

Shawn’s prediction doesn’t sound that far-fetched. I wouldn’t put it past ‘em. An EU edition of the films sound like they would totally sell.

Scene: While on his way out to Docking Bay 97, Han Solo passes Talon Karrde, who just so happens to be heading over to Docking Bay 98. As they pass. . .Karrde’s shrewd gaze lingers on the hurried Solo, rubbing his weathered beard in knowing admiration.

PJ, you forgot to add in Dash Rendar into that scene.
