American Gladiators… the Toys!

After Mattel grabbed the license for WWE many were left wondering what Jakks Pacific was going to do. The answer if finally here with their announcement that they will be making American Gladiators toys that will be available in the Spring of 2009.

If they stuck with the same scale and look as their WWE line it would be pretty cool to have wrestlers vs. gladiators matches. Unfortunately, the only unknown here is if there’s a big enough market of consumers interested in buying American Gladiators toys. Was the remake that popular before the season ender took it off the air? Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the new American Gladiators, but my fiancee is a nut for the new version. I doubt she’d be buying any of the figures though. Anybody reading this think that they would pick up an American Gladiator or two? I think I’d only buy one if they made classic gladiators. I mean check out the awesome in the above picture. That’s ten levels of super greatness.
