April Fools Done Right at Brothers Brick
I’ll go on record saying that I detest April Fool’s Day Jokes, that’s why you didn’t see any on this site yesterday. Why on Earth does a date on the calender give you license to act like a complete asshole for 24 hours? Every time I see a fake news story on April Fools, I think the person pulling the lame prank is the fool themselves. For every story I read on April Fools Day I have to wonder if it is real and if I figure out it is fake, I realize I just wasted my time reading something that wasn’t funny or worth it in any way.
However, I’ve come across one lone exception this year. On April 1st Brothers Brick, a super awesome Lego blog, started posting some fake stories and some even faker (faker?) posts showing off custom Lego pieces like this Mother Goose:

While the fake news stories on the site were pretty lame, the simple constructions being passed off as their usual cool as crap Lego features was awesome. Check out this Halo work for a good example.
Now what was funny (or aggravating) was that there were some pretty mean comments directed at the site for these posts. I can understand thinking that they weren’t funny, but when I see comments like, “Maybe stop this bullshit?” and threats to delete their RSS feed I really loathe people. If you don’t like the posts why be mean about it? And if you are that pissed off delete the RSS feed you jack ass without being a baby. Sigh, people are all just a-holes I guess. Except for you if you read this. You are awesome. Now please click on some ads.

Yeah, the whole April Fools thing is incredibly annoying–especially online–with a few exceptions. Like the gag where YouTube Rick Roll’ed all their featured videos. Pretty funny.
Showcasing simplistic Lego creations? Also funny.
