Star Wars in Your Face

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

The 2009 Toy Fair had lots and lots of Star Wars news and since I’m only mildly interested in Star Wars toys these days, I decided to drop my thoughts (mostly) in one post. I’ve gone through Jedi Insider’s Star Wars coverage from the 2009 Toy Fair and commented on what interested me the most.

Mail-Away Figure For 2009

starwarsqui-gonn-jinn-and-eopie-mailawayfigure

Wow, how stupid. Qui-Gon Jinn and the Eopie farting animal from the 10th anniversary celebration of that embarrassment known as The Phantom Menace. This is for all the Star Wars collectors that drive me nuts with their, “make this obscure character no one but four of us care about” and “why don’t we have a *insert retarded looking beast here* toy yet?” type of pleas.

Clone Watch: Clone Wars Clones

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

clonewatch0002b.jpg

It’s been awhile since I had a good old fashion Clone Watch, especially since I’ve been trying to change the direction of the blog from “toys I want to buy” to “toys other people might want to buy.” Still, these clones might be of some interest.

SDCC ‘08: Star Wars Goodness Part 1 (Clone Edition)

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Thanks to Toy Bender’s official photographer Scott McEachen at San Diego Comic Con 2008, I’ve got a bunch of pictures of cool upcoming collector’s items. Yeah, you might have seen them elsewhere, but only I have the finest insight on the world of what’s cool in toys.*

The first few posts will cover the Star Wars figures seen at the con. While I’m certainly not as big into Star Wars as I used to be, Hasbro did manage to pull out some figures that will keep me at least semi-interested in Star Wars toys in the near future. Before we officially get started let’s put out the alert:

Clone Watch: German Clones?

Friday, April 11th, 2008

clonewatch0002b.jpg

If you didn’t happen to go to the latest Star Wars convention in Germany (the appropriately named Jedi-con), then you most certainly missed out on the exclusive two pack of clones that were at the show. The figures are Shadow Troopers that are packaged much like the Target exclusive Order 66 packs.

Clone Watch: The Toy Fair 2008 Edition

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

clonewatch0002b.jpg

It’s great to finally see all the rumors that have been floating around the past few weeks finally confirmed (or slightly disproved) by the recent 2008 Toy Fair, especially when it comes to Clone Troopers.

AT-TE

atte00001.jpg

First off, I’m pretty sure regular readers of this site will know how obsessed I am with the AT-TE. Jedi Insider was able to secure some pictures of the thing and it looks amazing. While it isn’t quite as big as I thought it might be, the thing is pretty damn large. It looks like it comes with one Clone Trooper, although it’s of the animated style variety. Be sure to head over to Rebelscum.com for the rest of the pics.

Clone Watch: Scubaaaa Troopaaa

Monday, February 11th, 2008

clonewatch0002b.jpg

For all the talking I’ve been doing lately about how much I want a Clone Scubatrooper, I hadn’t seen an image of one or any other figures in it’s wave until I ran across this image at Galactichunter.com:

scubawavesmall001.jpg

By God, this is one of the best waves of figures I’ve ever seen. I’m pooping rainbows in my pants here. First of all, I need about ten of those Scuba Troopers. Then you’ve got the Obi-Wan in clone armor that’s a must have. The add on armor was neat enough, but the body sculpted armor looks fantastic. Another figure that looks pretty damn good is the snow bunny Padme, oh yeah sweetness. I’m not as hot on the rest of the figures, but they should please a lot of other Star Wars fans out there.

Of course, I don’t think I’ll see my must wanted figures in stores when they eventually hit so I’m going to start thinking about where I want to track them down online. Any suggestions?

POTF2.com Rumor List: Clone Watch!

clonewatch0002b.jpg

POTF.com recently posted a rumor list for the future of 2008 Star Wars figures and it looks sweet so far. The list is as follows:

Obi-Wan (General armor)
Clone Trooper w. quad cannon
Clone Scuba Trooper
Saesee Tiin General
Quarren Soldier
Padme Ilum
Black IG-88 Speeder-Bike Droid
Mon Calamari Warrior

Clone Watch: New Order 66 Target Two Packs

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

clonewatch0002b.jpg

Last year’s Target exclusive Order 66 two packs must have gone over pretty well with Target, because it’s been recently confirmed that they’re ready to have another go around of the things. I know I bought three or four of them without really meaning too, the damn clones were too tempting!

The rumor that there would be more clone two packs started a week or so ago with Jedi Defender having a big update on it that even included a list of figures that we might see. They included:

A Clone Watch (and other stuff)

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

Sir Steve’s Guide (yes, the very same site that has won the Ultra Geeky Award many times) has posted some images from the first wave of the 2008 line of Star Wars figures that you might want to check out if you are so inclined. As the title of this post indicates we have a Clone Watch with this wave, albeit a pretty minor one:

Star Wars Saga Legends Fan’s Choice Polls Close

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

With the Saga Legends line you have a win-win situation for both Hasbro and toy buyers. Hasbro wins because all they have to do is clunk out a few thousand more figures from molds they already have. Fans win because they get another shot at owning a figure they might have missed without resorting to eBay.

This round of figures for the Saga Legends line for the Spring of 2008 has some good picks. In fact, it qualifies as a honest to goodness, old fashioned Clone Watch.

Star Wars at SDCC 2007

Monday, August 20th, 2007

starwarssddc00001a.jpg

I can’t believe it, but I completely forgot about my Star Wars Comic-Con coverage. In my defense though, most of my Star Wars load was blown at Star Wars Celebration IV where my extensive coverage of the event basically covered almost everything shown at Comic-con in terms of toys. However, there were a few things worth noting so I’m catching up with them here. (Click on the pics to make them larger)

Clone Watch: Battlefront 2 Retailer Exclusive Figure Packs

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

clonewatch0002b.jpg

Just when I become Mr. Cocky Know-it-all Toy Blogger and I think I know everything about all the newest Star Wars toys coming down the pipeline, I see news on a site like RebelScum.com pointing out my inadequacies so I know I’m not cock of the walk. I’m cock of nothing.

The ego deflating news is that there will be two battle packs chock full of figures based on the game Star Wars: Battlefront 2. The selection consists of a ton of clone variants:

Clone Watch: Entertainment Earth Reveals Another Exclusive

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

clonewatch0002b.jpg

It seems like Entertainment Earth can’t stop revealing figures from their 14 figure exclusive Mandalorian set. The first reveal lately is a figure that was first shown in the latest issue of ToyFare (yeah I know, I haven’t reviewed it yet). This figure is a variation on the ever popular characters from the game Republic Commando.

Clone Watch: Wave 8 of Star Wars 30th Anniversary

Monday, July 16th, 2007

clonewatch0002b.jpg

Rebelscum.com has posted an image of a Hasbro Star Wars action figure poster at Celebration IV in Europe, which has the unseen figure wave 8 included on it. In this Attack of the Clones themed wave is an unusual clone trooper, to say the least:

Clone Watch: Mandalorian Exclusive Set

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

clonewatch0002b.jpg

It’s been awhile since I’ve had to bust out the Clone Watch logo, but it’s that time again. Way back when I reported that Entertainment Earth was going to release a 14 figure Mandalorian themed set, nerds across the world started sweating with anticipation. Who were the rest of the figures? Well, prepare to mess your computer screen with this image of the next figures in the set:

trooper_reveal.jpg

These two are obviously clone trooper repaints. What, you expect 14 brand new figures? What makes these clones different is that they have the kick ass whatever the hell its called symbol on their chests. I’m a huge Star Wars geek, but even I don’t know the name of that thing (nor do I really care to find out). Still, these figures are pretty awesome pants with that simple addition.

The rest of the 14 figure crew is going to be revealed at the San Diego Comic-con, so rest up for another inevitable mind explosion at that time.
