Hasbro has graciously answered questions put forth to them pertaining to G.I. Joe figures/comics/and DVDs. Why don’t we check some of the most informative together?
Let’s open this up with a good one. Action Figure Insider asked a question to which the answer gets my blood boiling:
You ever play that game where you strategically place pants into lines of Star Wars dialogue? Lines like,” I find your lack of pants disturbing” are something that only a true Star Wars fan can know. Hasbro has graciously answered tons of annoying questions and I’ve compiled some of the best/most interesting again. You know you want it! Don’t make me make you beg.
If you’re looking forward to the big ass Star Wars vehicles coming out in a few months, then here’s a couple of videos to tease you until you see them on store shelves and turn to doing nasty things with strangers in order to afford them. In case you’ve been dead, Hasbro is releasing two big vehicles:
Clone Wars: AT-TE
The first is the AT-TE that’s motorized and fits a ton of clone troopers. It also just happens to retail for about a hundred and thirty dollars. This one is for the clone obsessed person in your life (me). I can’t believe how cool those motorized doors are. I guess I’m easy to please when it comes to clones and their rides.
It’s been awhile since I had any G.I. Joe updates, but there really hasn’t been anything too exciting to talk about. That has changed slightly since Sideshow has released a tasty teaser for their upcoming line of 12 inch Joe figures:
In case you missed it, Hasbro announced a while back that they were making a 12 inch Joe line, but they also partnered up with Sideshow to produce some higher end Joes. Basically, the Sideshow ones are the twelve inch Joes to look out for. There’s still no word on how much they cost of if they will be based on the movie versions of the characters though. I pray to bloody hell that they aren’t, since that would make them pretty worthless.
In addition to the teaser Hasbro has a couple of ads for the new Joe and Cobra vehicles coming out. What’s interesting is the G.I. Joe themed ad which shows a Conquest X-30 fighter jet amongst the already announced vehicles. While it’s not one of the bigger vehicles that Joe fans have been hoping for, it is certainly a welcome addition to the 25th style line-up (click on the pic to enlarge it).
Star Wars Nerd Questions is back, baby! This time there’s not a lot of ultra nerdy questions, but there are a lot of valuable info dispensed by Hasbro about both the Star Wars and Indiana Jones toy lines. In fact with this round there was more Indiana Jones toy questions than usual, so those of you wondering why the sculpting on Indy sucks will get their answers. Enough with the jibba jabba though, let’s get on with it!
A fellow by the name of Nick From Texas sent me a link to this pretty cool Indiana Jones toy related video on Slashfilm. Since I can’t embed Slashfilm videos here though, I found the same video on YouTube. Watch it here or click on the above link for a much higher resolution. Anyway, the short film recreates on of the most famous chases in film history found in Raiders of the Lost Ark, but this time it’s done with action figures and vehicles from the latest toy line by Hasbro.
Man, this thing is fantastic and a perfect use of many of the new toys. I found myself wanting to buy the German truck even though I’m not sure what I’d do with it aside from let it collect dust. I’ve got to hand it to Probot Productions, they sure know how to make a good toy video.

If you didn’t know, the Indiana Jones toy line has some neat mail-away offers available. I actually didn’t know exactly how many there were until I sorted them all out. If you’re too lazy to do the research, I’ve compiled a list of all the Indiana Jones toy mail-aways that are currently running. WARNING: Spoilerish material ahead if you have not seen Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
It’s not often that toys that I like make it into the mainstream news. I guess there’s not a lot of interest out there with the general public when it comes to clone trooper variations. The BMF Millennium Falcon that had me geeking out a few weeks ago has broken through to some extent into the mainstream by hitting Wired magazine’s website in their playlist.
Indiana Jones has never gotten the toy success like other movie hits like Star Wars. While Hasbro is making up for lost ground with its Indiana Jones toy line, but way back in the 80s Kenner had a short lived Jones line followed by an even shorter lived line from LJN. Here’s an amazingly well preserved television commercial for the old 3 3/4″ figures from Kenner:

Following fan speculation based upon data found in retail computers, Hasbro has confirmed that a character from the 80s cartoon/toyline M.A.S.K. will make an appearance in the G.I. Joe line. Matt Trakker, the leader of the good guys in M.A.S.K., is going to join the ranks of G.I. Joe. While there are no images of the figure yet, I’ll post one as soon as one appears. I can imagine he will look like his original toy form complete with his special helmet.
If you’ve been eagerly anticipating the ‘08 G.I. Joe Comic Con Exclusive, then Hasbro has got what you want. Head on over to their website to see the unveiling via a short video. If you can’t wait for it, here’s a blurry image pulled from the video:
After picking up the first two figures that I reviewed previously, I picked up two more at a Wal-Mart. I got these guys mainly because Wal-Mart’s price was 6.98, a full fifty cents less than Target. Still, seven bucks for an action figure still hurts.
Before we get on with my reviews, I’d like to point out that I missed an important detail in my last review. The sticker that you get with the “hidden relic” is meant to be used in the mail-away offer. If you collect six stickers and send them in, you get the exclusive figure. What is that figure you ask? The figure is… ***Spoiler Alert*** a crystal skeleton figure with throne. There’s no picture of the thing, but I’ll share one as soon as I find one. ***End Spoiler Alert***
While out here on “vacation” I was unable to resist the urge to buy toys. After seeing the Indiana Jones figures in stores a few times, I finally broke down and picked a couple of them up. I don’t share my toy purchases online except for notable cases, and boy this sure is one. Not only are these figures by Hasbro toys that fans of the Indiana Jones series ones that should have been made a long time ago, but they are not without controversy.
Another week, another round of Star Wars Nerd Questions! To be honest, there weren’t a whole lot of questions that were that exciting or super nerdy. There’s some decent stuff in here so you shouldn’t be too disappointed if you choose to click on the more button. Man, I’m a terrible self promoter.
