One Cool Custom Lego Gunship

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

In my recent post about the new Lego Gunship, reader XeQUae made mention that he had two of the old (and ultra valuable) Lego Gunships and he modified it so it can be an AT-TE carrier like in the one of the best scenes in the entirety of Attack of the Clones.

Lego Gunship Revisited and Other Lego Offerings

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Thanks to our fine friends at Wizard Universe.com (and a chap named Zach Oat), I got some Star Wars lego info from that very fine website. The biggest (news for me at least) is that the Lego Gunship will make a return.

Wal-Mart to No Longer Carry Legos

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

walmartlego.jpg

I bet that post title got your attention didn’t it? Well, if you live in the U.S. don’t worry you’re safe to shop in your local Wal-Mart and purchase everyone’s favorite building toy, but kids and collectors in Canada will not be able to get any Lego toys at their nearest Wal-Mart.

Lego Predator Bust

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

In the fine tradition of custom Lego Aliens busts is this magnificant work of art.

I think the Predator pretty much speaks for itself. Thank you Brother’s Brick for pointing this one out.

Lego January 2008 Catalog: Starrrrr Warrrrrs!!!

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

The newest Lego catalog had lots of new items and while they can’t all be as excited as the Indiana Jones sets, they are still pretty kick ass. Let’s take a look at the newest Lego sets to make their appearance in the catalog.

TIE Crawler

legowinter0009small.jpg

This set wasn’t that new, in fact it was a Target exclusive, but this is the first time it’s been in the Lego catalog. I made my opinion known about this some time ago so there’s no need to go there again… except that while this is a nice Lego set, it is based upon one of the dumbest Expanded Universe vehicle ideas ever.

Lego January 2008 Catalog: Indiana Jones!

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

The first Lego catalog of 2008 has hit my mailbox like it was a ginger child through marriage and there is a ton of great stuff in it. Mostly involving…. INDIANA FRIGGEN JONES!

legowinter0001.jpg

Aww man, now this is what I’m talking about. Who would have ever thought we’d ever seen Indiana Jones Lego sets? What a wonderful world we live in… if you ignore all the suffering.

We have some great pics here of the sets after the more button, so be sure to click on them to see them in a much bigger and beautiful size.

The dreaded Cabbage Patch Doll Beast moments before devouring its prey.

*Knock* *Knock* Is this thing on?

Wow, it’s been a few days since I updated. After barely surviving several airline delays and a gigantic taxi cab bill (because our late plane made us miss our train), I’m semi-back to provide partially competent updates. To ease our transition from no updates to a regular schedule of super awesome, I propose we share what we got or gave for Christmas toywise.

Prepare to be Blown Away by the Lego Aircraft Carrier

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

I’m going to be frank. I’ve had a lot of awesome stuff on Toy Bender in the past, but I think this is the most awesome and mind blowing thing I’ve run across so far. Oh yes, your eyeballs did not deceive you. I’ve run across pics of the coolest Lego set ups in the history of Lego. It’s a massive aircraft carrier of almost unbelievable proportions. This thing is so massive that the nerd who built it is dwarfed by his mad creation:

Lego AT-AT in Action

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

tbt_0190_brick_lego_star_wars_at_at_10178.jpg

The newest Lego At-At is a pretty cool looking set that comes with some nifty accessories. Another important selling point is that it is supposed to walk. Since I don’t plan on budgeting for this thing, a video of it in action will do lieu of building it and testing it out. The geek gadget blog Gizmondo comes to the rescue with their video of the Lego AT-AT in motion.

Lego Fall 2007 Catalog: Lego Awesome in Your Face

Monday, October 8th, 2007

The Fall 2007 Lego catalog finally arrived at my door and let me tell you, it was a welcome sight. Without the internet at my home (don’t ask me how I’m updating), I’ve got nothing to do but stare at all the boxes piling up as we prepare to move. Now I can drool over Legos! And drool I shall. (click on most of the pics to make them bigger)

legocatalogwinter00010002.JPG

Lego is already filling your face full of more awesome you can handle with this cover. Yeah, you are seeing that right. It’s a skeleton pirate ship. If there’s one thing Lego does well, it’s combing my many different obsessions in one artistic medium.

It’s Lego’s Birthday!

Friday, August 10th, 2007

legologo.jpg

Today marks Lego’s 75th Anniversary. Wow, how crazy is that? It’s hard to imagine that one of the most successful and widely known toy companies in the world is seventy five years old.

What’s the best way to celebrate you ask? I’d say building something Lego related. Or even better yet, by going through every single one of my Lego posts… okay I had to at least try.

In it’s seventy five year history, I don’t think Lego has ever been more popular than it is now. Think about it, there’s Lego video games, animated movies on the interwebs, licensed sets that get people who normally wouldn’t think about Legos interested in them, and even giant Lego men washing up on beaches around the world. It’s a good time for Lego and an even better time for those wanting to build small things out of little plastic blocks.

Happy Birthday Lego!

Giant Lego Man Found in Ocean… No Really

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

In one of the most bizarre/possibly false stories I’ve ever seen, a giant Lego “mini-fig” was found in the ocean at the Dutch resort of Zandvoort.

giantlegoman0001.jpg

The figure is 2.5 meters tall. That’s over 8 feet tall for us folks who use a manly measurement system.

Here’s a video of the figure that leads a little more credence story. I expect that in a few weeks we’ll find some angry store owner who was promised a giant Lego statue by Tuesday. That or it was a mob hit gone terribly wrong.

Lego at SDCC 2007

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

dsci0044.jpg

Lego’s store, I mean booth, made an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con and while I’d seen mostly everything there at Star Wars Celebration IV (the booth was almost exactly the same except a little larger), they did have a few things worth noting.

Lego Summer Catalog Part 2: Batman and Star Wars

Friday, July 13th, 2007

My last installment covered Lego’s space battling Mars Mission sets and the mind blowingly cool Castle sets found in the 2007 Summer Lego catalog. Now it’s time for some licensed Lego action!

First on deck is Batman. While there weren’t a lot of new sets that got me excited, the new Bat-tank is pretty awesome. (Click on the pic to make it super sized)

Kickassery in the Summer Lego Catalog: Part 1

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

If there’s one thing I like in my Lego catalogs it is the loads of kickassery they cram into every edition. This latest catalog is no different and in fact it’s even better than usual because of the addition of over 90 new Lego items. Since we don’t have anything better to do, let’s take a look at some of the best stuff in this catalog.

I have a good eye for cool and let me tell you, this cover featuring the new Mars Mission line is cooler than Frank Sinatra riding a dinosaur:
