BBS: Lego Beer Song

Sunday, July 8th, 2007

I’ve been saving this video for some time now and I can’t afford not to share it. It’s simply too great. Can someone tell me where this song is from? I seriously doubt that it’s from a Lego clip on the web. Still, very, very awesome stuff.

Indiana Jones Lego Mini-Fig

Friday, July 6th, 2007

Recently I shared the news of the licensing agreements made for Indiana Jones. One of the agreements was with Lego. Well, this image of an Indiana Jones Lego mini-figure surfaced on the web recently.

indianajoneminifig.jpg

Is it real? Who the hell cares? It friggen rocks my face off!

Seriously, I had my doubts about Indiana Jones Legos for a few moments. To me there really wasn’t anything special enough about old cars and trucks to warrant whole sets devoted to Indiana Jones. The only thing I thought it would be good for would be as a source of mini-figs of Dr. Jones… but then my temporary retardation passed and I started getting excited for tomb playsets filled with traps and Nazi thugs. Where are my Indiana Jones Legos? I demand them now!

Indiana Jones Toys! OMG!!!11

Monday, June 25th, 2007

While checking out the Wizard Universe message boards, I nearly pooped my pants when I saw that with the upcoming Indiana Jones movie there will be toys (real link). Oh yes, there will be Indiana Jones toys. BOOYAH!

indianatt.jpg

Historically, Indiana Jones toys have been few and far between. Aside from the very short run of Raiders of the Lost Ark toys that fetch a high dollar amount on the collector’s market, there really hasn’t been that much toy representation in the way of everyone’s favorite whip wielding archaeologist. This will now change, because several companies have gotten the license:

In the toy category, Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE:HAS) will develop a broad line of action figures, vehicles and role play as well as games.

LEGO, the world’s best-selling construction toy brand, has also come on board as the exclusive licensee for building sets.

Hallmark is on board in the greeting cards, party goods and ornaments categories, and Random House, Scholastic and DK Publishing will provide the foundation for a robust publishing program.

Following their string of best-selling titles, LucasArts will support the franchise with breakthrough Indiana Jones video games that will allow players to “live” all-new Indy adventures.

Indiana Jones Lego sets? Action figures? Hallmark cards!? I think my boner just got a mini boner. In addition to this awesome mech overflow, look for Burger King and MARS Indiana Jones promotions. No, not the same MARs run by Destro. Anyway, any doubts I’ve had about an elderly Indiana Jones have now been washed away with the new found promise of toy bliss.

Alien Lego Art

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

This Lego creation is utterly fantastic.

alienlego.jpg

Seriously, that’s a work of art. It perfectly captures the mechanical side of the bio-mechanical look of the Aliens in a way that really works more than it should. I’m not exactly sure why the Chestburster is tan, but the lighter color does help to highlight the individual Lego pieces a little more, giving you a better appreciation of what makes up this Chestburster. You’ve got to love how the Lego “blood” is pooling outside of the base too.

I’ve got to give this the official Toy Bender cool stamp. It’s too cool for school and thankfully, it’s summer right now:

Lego News Block: Exo-Force and Mars Mission

Monday, June 4th, 2007

I really need to get better sources for my Lego news, because I’m missing some cool stuff. On a recent trip to Toys R Us, I discovered one kick ass Exo-Force set had hit the shelf. More importnatly, I saw a new Lego line that I didn’t know existed previously. It’s about time to do some Lego catch up work.

legoexo00001.jpg

When the Exo-Force line took off, I thought it was great that there were some anime inspired giant robots in the Lego style that I could call my own. I’m not a big anime person, but I love me some giant robo-suit action. What red blooded nerd doesn’t? This new set is the prime example of Japanese Anime, a robot suit with a ridiculously large and impractical jet pack that looks insanely cool.

Custom Spotlight: Lego Death Star

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

This last week I discovered an interesting Lego website via the Wizard Universe boards. User Baronsat has his own nifty Lego themed website. In particular he’s got a great custom set based on the Palitoy Death Star play set.

baronsatdeathstar001.jpg

If you don’t remember this play set, don’t worry. It was a European release. We got the superior Kenner Death Star play set in the states. That isn’t to say the Palitoy set wasn’t cool, but nothing could beat that Kenner trash compactor. This Lego Death Star that Baronsat has cooked up is about ten times cooler than the original Palitoy Death Star set, so using nerd math that makes it about.5% cooler than the original Kenner playset. Someone, make a Kenner Lego Death Star stat!
