McFarlane Toys Update: The Adventures of Spawn Online

Friday, November 24th, 2006

Spawn Series 30, known as The Adventures of Spawn now has some nifty new stuff online. Head over there now and you’ll see the figures in better detail, including some alternate heads and changeable weapon arms. There’s also a QuickTime 360 view so you can spin them around to your heart’s desire. But wait, there’s more! In addition to the pics there’s also links to the online comic, wallpaper, and cool pictures for use as online avatars. (Note: I had trouble downloading the avatars using Firefox, but it works fine with Internet Explorer.)

This new online content has really convinced me I need one of these guys. It’s the first Spawn figure series that’s got me excited since… well… the first one.

McFarlane Toys: Bon Jovi Figures

Monday, October 30th, 2006

This is one toy news item that broke before I even started writing Toy Bender, but I’ve wanted to comment on it for some time. In Todd McFarlane’s quest to recreate his youth in toy form, Bon Jovi is going to be immortalized in plastic as a barely articulated but well sculpted (my guess) action figure.

I’m just going to put this offer out on the table right now: For anyone who orders a McFarlane produced Bon Jovi, I’ll give them a 100% free punch in the face. That’s right! With every purchase of a no talent rock star figure, you earn a healthy and nutritious knuckle sandwich courtesy of your friendly neighborhood Paul! Act now while my fists are still in good shape from punching hosers in the face!

McFarlane Toys: Spawn News from Hell! (Spooky, hey?)

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

Like I’ve said before, I’ve never been able to fully dig the whole Spawn universe. However, I do make an exception with the Spawn 30th series, also known as The Adventures of Spawn.

McFarlane Update (Because you asked for it)

Saturday, October 14th, 2006

My official stance on McFarlane’s figures is that they look really cool, but they’re mostly not for me. I like a little more ability to pose my toys when I do open them and I don’t do that often, for I’m one of those horrible people that likes to keep their stuff all safe in the package. It’s almost a crime to keep a McFarlane figure boxed up though, so usually I’ll pass them up. I do have a Predator vs. Alien set that I really enjoy and their Terminator Endo-Skelton is sweet.

This 3 pack set caught my eye, as it features some cool sculpts and a McFarlaneish take on famous movie monsters. It’s a three pack exclusive to Spencer’s, although they were available before in a McFarlane’s Monsters series.

I particularly enjoy the look of the Mummy and the Frankenstein’s monster is pretty nifty too. I wonder why Dracula has a cape that looks almost like Spawn’s. Is he a distant cousin or is he just a fan?
