The pieces are falling into place and I can now officially say that I’m going to be attending the 2007 San Diego Comic-Con. You might be asking yourself what that has to do with toys. Well my friend, it looks like there will be at least a few figure reveals for Hasbro and more importantly, there is going to be a plumber’s ass-load of exclusive figures.

Pimp Daddy Destro

One of the most anticipated figures of the con is Pimp Daddy Destro. PDD has Joe fans begging anyone who is going to the convention to pick them up one. I’m going on Saturday and Sunday and with the demand I’m seeing online, I don’t think I’ll get a chance to even see one. The “limit” on the figures is five, so at least 90% of buyers will stock up on their limit. Making things even more frustrating for collectors is that there are two versions of Pimp Daddy Destro, a gold headed version along with the silver headed version pictured above.

Last week it was announced that there will be a Keith Richard’s toy made from the upcoming film Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. One of the reasons why you might have not seen pirate Keith yet in any of the Pirate’s toy lines is that this figure is coming through courtesy of NECA, who has personal relationships with those in the music business. I guess that answers why they have so many figures of musicians then.

Over on NECA’s MySpace page they put up some new images of their Castlevania figure series, which is in the making. The one I particularly like is Alucard:

Alucard is the star of one of the greatest games of all time, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. If you have never played it, do so. Seek out a copy of the PS1 version or download it on the XBox Live marketplace (if it’s available, I haven’t fired up my 360 in awhile) and start playing it right now. SOTN is one of three games I can blame my first couple of years worth of bad grades in college… okay it was really laziness, but it’s just easier to blame video games.

No, not this “Resident Evil”.

NECA has done it again, just when you think they’ve maxed out the awesome, they squirt out some more magic juice on our faces. This time they’ve got something for you video game fans with series 2 of the Resident Evil Anniversary figures.

The figures included in this line up are: Tyrant, Crimson Head Zombie, Hunter (with V crotch!!),
Licker (with bendable, poseable tongue!), a secret chase figure, and a retailer exclusive Labcoat Zombie.

Unfortunately, they didn’t put up any new pictures of the figures. I’ll keep a look out for you in case they do. They are currently planning on releasing this wave in late August after they get approval from Capcom. Until then, start stocking up on shotgun shells and herbs!

300 is the fuggen most ball blistering movie ever, so it’s only fitting that the Spartan king from that film got some loving. King Leonides is coming to life in toy form from the fine folks at NECA. In the tradition of NECA posting a picture on their MySpace page and me posting it here so you don’t have to get a MySpace account to look at it, check this out:

If you’re a male and you don’t like 300, then you need to get your testicles examined by a health-care professional. 300 is to kickassery what Hairspray is to fat transvestites.

King Leonidas redefines the word badass. He’s so badass that he’s badass to the max by a factor of ten times a bigfoot jumping a motorcycle over sixteen flaming school buses. NECA’s figure does a pretty good job of representing his badassedness in this 12 inch tall visage. As if he already wasn’t cool enough, NECA slapped some electronics in him so he can say four phrases from the film. Righteous.

If NECA hasn’t programed him yet, here’s my suggestions for what Leonidas should say:

1. Let’s go kill some mutant giants, yo!

2. Maybe I shouldn’t have trusted the ugly hunchback who cursed my name with the one weakness in our battle plan.

3. Today we fight for Sparta. Today we fight for nipples!

4. I’m totally killing all your dudes in slow motion.
