Sideshow is Trying to Kill Me with a Ninja
Friday, February 20th, 2009The good folks of Sideshow who generously donated to the big Toys for Tots contest are trying to kill me. How? Well, they decided to announce the pre-order date for their latest 12″ scale Joe figure and it’s the one I’ve been waiting for: Storm Shadow.

Gee, what impeccable timing! Storm Shadow is the one 12 inch Joe from this line that I was guaranteed to buy outside of a lottery winning and it comes just after I lose my job. If only it had been before December when life was all unicorns and bottomless bags of Sun Chips.
Seriously though, Papa friggen need this toy. I may have the line on a possible temp job that just might come in time for this thing. Besides, as a responsible toy blogger I really should buy Sideshow’s Storm Shadow right? I mean, for the good of blog and the you readers who I’m sure would be dying to know what it’s like owning one or something.
Man, my justifications are weak sauce. I’ve got to think of a way to get my hands on this lovely Storm Shadow… maybe I can convince some inner city kids to win a dance competition or something.
Sponsor Spotlight: Sideshow Toys
Saturday, December 20th, 2008Have you gotten in your contest entry for the Toys For Tots contest? Why the hell not? You better get on that, Mister or you’re going to miss the chance to win sweet toys and help a child in need. And speaking of sweet toys, not only did 80sTees.com, Brian’s Toys, and Big Bad Toy Store donate to the contest, but Sideshow Toys did as well. Let’s check out their stuff!
Sideshow is known for having high end merchandise. They truly make “collectibles” and not “toys”. Okay, they totally make toys, but you can’t find them at the local Toys R Us or Wal-Mart. Their G.I. Joe line is particularly interesting to me and here’s the full reveal of their Cobra Soldier:
Hot Pants! Good God Y’all!
Sideshow’s Cobra Troopa
Wednesday, December 17th, 2008Sideshow Toys (who generously donated to this year’s Toys For Tots contest) has announced their newest 12″ G.I. Joe figure, the Cobra trooper and it is bad ass.
Compared to the last two releases, Sideshow’s Cobra Trooper is a steal with the asking price of 80 bucks. It looks like Sideshow has also lived up to their attention to detail and quality, the fellow in the picture looks fantastic and a real threat to the Joe team.
Now here’s my open request to Sideshow: For the love of Crom, please release a Storm Shadow next. I realize it’s not cool to like him because everyone else does, but by all that is unholy I will buy him. I’d also like to recommend a Alley Viper… although I do realize that will never happen. I even got permission from my wife to buy him… if we have enough money for groceries in the same month he’s released.

A Contest For Tots: Win Prizes for Helping Kids
Wednesday, December 10th, 2008You know what’s great? Helping others. This time of the year is the perfect time to help the less fortunate, because there are a lot of kids out there that might not be able to have a good *insert religious or secular holiday here* this year. That’s where Toys For Tots and ToyBender come in. If you donate a toy(s) to Toys For Tots, you’ll have the chance to win some fabulous prizes!
The Case of the Huge B*tch
Thursday, July 10th, 2008I must warn you that if you collect toys or are easily angered, then do not watch the following video. However if you want to see a total bag level up to a 70 level Super C, by all means watch the video.
I pray to Krom this video is a fake, because if I was on a jury I would consider this reason for justifiable homicide. What’s sad is that when someone does something like this, they never realize that it’s most likely providing the exact reason why the boyfriend hadn’t given her a ring in the first place. Someone who flagrantly destroys another person’s property like this isn’t going to be the most stable person to begin with. Here’s to hoping she got her ass dumped and taken to small claims court. At least the cost of losing an expensive figure would be less than a divorce.
Silent, but Deadly
Friday, June 13th, 2008Sideshow Toys has finally revealed in full lighting their truly awesome 12″ Snake Eyes. Feast your eyes upon his badassedness:

There are a ton more pics of this bad boy over on Sideshow’s site, so go there and check them out after you read my world shattering thoughts.
Sideshow Gets G.I. Joe!
Monday, February 4th, 2008
In some super exciting news for G.I. Joe fans, Sideshow Collectibles has announced that they are getting the G.I. Joe license to make 12″ scale figures (i.e. fancy man dolls). More details are expected to be revealed at the upcoming Toy Fair. You can see an overly dramatic teaser video here if you feel like watching a bunch of muscle dudes in shadows.
As much as I like the idea of a higher end G.I. Joe toy, I don’t have high end collectible money so I’ll be sweating bullets when the time comes to make the big decision when the release the inevitable Storm Shadow.
What do you guys (and possible gals) think? And what figures do you think would be in wave one? I’m betting on Duke (boring!), Cobra Commander, Snake Eyes v2, and Storm Shadow.
Sideshow’s Life Size Cylon
Thursday, December 20th, 2007
I don’t do a lot of coverage of expensive ass collectibles simply based on the fact that I can’t afford to buy any toy that costs more than a McDonald’s value meal. This however, is simply too cool to ignore. Sideshow announced that it will have a life sized Cylon from the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica. There’s no word on release date, availability. or cost yet, but you’ve got to expect low quantities and one hell of a price tag.
Two things: 1. This should have been the much shinier and cooler looking original Cylon Centurion. 2. The eye visor better have the red light that moves back and forth or else it’s completely worthless.
It is nice to see that Battlestar Galactica has generated enough of a following that warrants making such an expensive collectible. I’d never have imagined anything remotely high class coming from Battlestar Galactica before the re-imagined series hit the air.
Shaun of the Dead from Sideshow
Tuesday, November 6th, 2007Sideshow toys released some images of the upcoming 12 inch Shaun of the Dead figures that should get the boxers wet of a few of you out there. They have both Shaun and Ed available for pre-order. Check them out:

John Wayne: America, F@ck Yeah!
Wednesday, April 4th, 2007Sideshow Toys is offering a John Wayne figure of significant magnitude. This version of The Duke comes in a lovely tiger stripe camouflage scheme in all his John Wayne-ish glory. It’s guaranteed to get every blue blooded patriot and manly man of manliness’s heart fluttering.

For you regular readers looking for a hit of the usual awesome this, this sucks that, I have to warn you that I get a little term paper serious for a moment. You might want to watch a really bad martial arts clip until the next post if you’re not up for it.
