The Case of the Huge B*tch

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

I must warn you that if you collect toys or are easily angered, then do not watch the following video. However if you want to see a total bag level up to a 70 level Super C, by all means watch the video.

I pray to Krom this video is a fake, because if I was on a jury I would consider this reason for justifiable homicide. What’s sad is that when someone does something like this, they never realize that it’s most likely providing the exact reason why the boyfriend hadn’t given her a ring in the first place. Someone who flagrantly destroys another person’s property like this isn’t going to be the most stable person to begin with. Here’s to hoping she got her ass dumped and taken to small claims court. At least the cost of losing an expensive figure would be less than a divorce.

Happy July 4th!

Friday, July 4th, 2008

It’s the birthday of the United States! On July 4th, 1543 Colubus signed some treaty with the native Americans or something. I suppose that I should know more about the history of my nation, so how about a little learning courtesy of School House Rock?

Okay, now that we all know a little something more about the founding of the U.S.A. let’s check out some real fireworks. There’s nothing else that says America like explosions… done by the British:

The New Lego Death Star In Detail

Friday, July 4th, 2008

With this site blasted away into nothing, it’s hard to tell what’s old news and what’s okay to post. Well, this YouTube clip was interesting enough to me to save for when ToyBender came back up. If you thought the pictures of the new Lego Death Star were cool, just check out this video highlighting it:

Just look at that thing; it’s hard to believe that they could pack so much action into one set. It’s too bad that that hunk of plastic is going to run for around four hundred bucks, because this is one set I’ll never be able to own. Do Lego fans have unlimited funds or something? I can’t imagine that there’s more than one person out there who can buy more than one of these huge expensive sets that Lego is putting out now. Anyway, it’s hard to believe that this set comes with so many mini-figs, but I guess with the price being so high anything less than half a dozen would be a slap in the face.

An Old Unaired Watchman Toy Ad or Something Else?

Friday, June 20th, 2008

While looking for a fodder for a post that allowed me to do the least amount of work possible, I ran into a toy ad on YouTube. It’s an un-aired toy ad for an Ozymandias action figure toy that was never produced… or is it?

Ozymandias is a character from the seminal Watchmen comic, arguably one of the best graphic novels ever produced. The ad was made by this fellow for a Watchman contest that had users making ads for products by Veidt Enterprises, the company owned by the fellow who is Ozymandias. While this ad is clearly not real, it’s still pretty sweet. Gotta love the use of the big Ken doll for Ozymandias. It kind of fits the character to a T. I also love his tiger thing. I don’t remember it from the comics but it’s been awhile.

Anyway, anyone else looking forward to the movie? I know there will be millions of fanboys that will hate it because it won’t be close enough to the comic, but I’m hopeful that it will turn out well.

Star Wars Big Purchase Videos

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

If you’re looking forward to the big ass Star Wars vehicles coming out in a few months, then here’s a couple of videos to tease you until you see them on store shelves and turn to doing nasty things with strangers in order to afford them. In case you’ve been dead, Hasbro is releasing two big vehicles:

Clone Wars: AT-TE

The first is the AT-TE that’s motorized and fits a ton of clone troopers. It also just happens to retail for about a hundred and thirty dollars. This one is for the clone obsessed person in your life (me). I can’t believe how cool those motorized doors are. I guess I’m easy to please when it comes to clones and their rides.

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Toy Box

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

A fellow by the name of Nick From Texas sent me a link to this pretty cool Indiana Jones toy related video on Slashfilm. Since I can’t embed Slashfilm videos here though, I found the same video on YouTube. Watch it here or click on the above link for a much higher resolution. Anyway, the short film recreates on of the most famous chases in film history found in Raiders of the Lost Ark, but this time it’s done with action figures and vehicles from the latest toy line by Hasbro.

Man, this thing is fantastic and a perfect use of many of the new toys. I found myself wanting to buy the German truck even though I’m not sure what I’d do with it aside from let it collect dust. I’ve got to hand it to Probot Productions, they sure know how to make a good toy video.

Thanks Nick!

Toy Factory Videos! Woot?

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

The title pretty much explains the reason for this post, I’m out of interesting things so I’m trying my best here with some videos. I find these interesting, but I’m not sure how much anyone else will care. The first is a very short glimpse into the past. It’s part of a news clip talking about Star Wars toys and it shows people hard at work building toys in Kenner’s factory during the reign of Return of the Jedi.

Why is this only 8 seconds? I’d kill for more footage like this because I’m the kind of weirdo who could sit and watch factory workers in the 80s making Star Wars toys all day long. It’s beautiful, like a sunrise or a lap dance.

Indiana Jones and the Lego Boulder

Monday, May 26th, 2008

This video has been making the rounds lately, but if you haven’t seen it yet check it out. It answers the questions, “What if you had five million Lego blocks and too much time on your hands?” The answer is quite simple, make a giant Lego boulder and have it chase you down a hill while you pretend to be Indiana Jones:

I’m surprised this went as well as it did. Somehow having a giant uncontrollable object rolling down a hill in a heavily populated area doesn’t seem like the brightest idea in the world to me. I think if I was the mini-van owner that I’d be seriously pissed at something like this, but I guess we’ll never know what happened since the video stops at that point.

High Tech High Noon: Gunslinging Robots

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

Since the entire world has stopped after the release of Grand Theft Auto IV except for those places where people have better things to do like starve to death, live under an oppressive dictatorship, or be lucky enough to experience both situations (I’m looking at you North Korea), toy news has seemingly ground to a halt. I haven’t seen a whole lot to report on and much worse I’m pretty apathetic, because I’ve got a vacation coming up so toys are the last thing on my mind. What better time then to share a YouTube video of cowboys fighting robots?

Boredom Breaker Sunday: Captain Picard Awesomeness

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

I want to just put it out there that sometimes I have odd tastes in things that I think are funny, therefore this video is both funny and extremely entertaining to me. Since I don’t have much else going on this Sunday and I thought I’d share it if you are in the same boat:

Thor is More Metal Than Thou

Friday, April 18th, 2008

So you probably don’t know or care that I haven’t updated in the last two days, but I’ll just let you know that I’ve been sick and the last thing I want to do is sit behind the computer and type away. But, I still love you so here’s a lazy video post of Thor rocking out. Enjoy:

You want a GI Joe Live Action Movie? Here it is!

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

toyadsthattimeforgot.jpg

If you want to get a quick taste of what a live action G.I. Joe film could be like, then look no further than this old G.I. Joe commercial.

If you don’t know much about G.I. Joe, this commercial came about as the toy line was starting to become a line based purely on gimmicks. Yep, the Joe train was almost off the rails. Don’t get me wrong, I like gliders as much as the next guy but the figures were starting to be made in exclusively neon paint schemes. The Ninja Force line also seems cool on paper. Who doesn’t love ninjas? Well too many ninjas can spoil the ninja soup. Plus the Ninja Force figures all had some stupid gimmick that ruined their poseabilty, one of the strongest points of the A Real American Hero line.

A Very Boring Lego Video…

Friday, April 11th, 2008

I ran across the video on Brothers Brick.com. It is a former Lego community team manager, Jake McKee, giving a talk about how Lego changed it’s non-interaction with it’s fans into a company that communicates with and pays attention to its adult collectors.

Yes, this video is boring, but if you’re in the least bit interested in how the toy industry works it’s a great watch. He goes into detail of why Lego made the change from a company that seemed almost clueless to one that is more open and tries to please it’s core audience. McKee gives a great example how Lego was a bit clueless about it’s own deep history and the knowledge it’s fans had about it’s products, “What’s funny is that… five years in my work at Lego I could not find one person that even remotely approached the level of knowledge that the dumbest fan had about our product line.”

Near the end of the video McKee gets into Lego’s first big set, the three hundred dollar Star Destroyer and how everyone had said they would never sell anything that large and that expensive. Wow, how times have changed, huh?

UPDATE: I want to thank all the Lego fans coming to see this video at the moment. I hope you like my site and I welcome you to check out any other articles that may strike your fancy.

TAtTF: G.I. Joe’s Rolling Thunder!

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

toyadsthattimeforgot.jpg

Since I’m completely obsessed with G.I. Joe lately, there’s going to be a few more Joe commercials in Toy Ads that Time Forgot than usual. Sorry, but thems the breaks. This time I’d like to take a moment to go into one of my favorite Joe vehicles, the Rolling Thunder.
