Clone Watch: Wave 8 of Star Wars 30th Anniversary

Rebelscum.com has posted an image of a Hasbro Star Wars action figure poster at Celebration IV in Europe, which has the unseen figure wave 8 included on it. In this Attack of the Clones themed wave is an unusual clone trooper, to say the least:

So… he’s wearing pants instead of armor? Anyone know who this guy is? I can honestly say that this is the first time where I definitely didn’t want a clone trooper, and man is it relieving. I hope I can keep this up so I don’t end up in the poorhouse because of my bizarre obsession for these things. Okay, maybe I want him a little bit.

There are also a few other figures of note in this wave like Jengo Fett… in a poncho!

My fiancee just asked me what is it with me and ponchos. What isn’t there about me and ponchos?!

Finally. WTF is this? I mean seriously, is this some drunken frat douche dressed up in a horrible R2-D2 costume for Halloween?

For the love of God, please don’t tell me he’s an actual character. If he’s had some sort of crazy adventure where he’s saved the galaxy or outwitted Darth Maul or something really retarded, I’m going to punch the first person I see reading a Star Wars expanded novel in the cock.

I live my life asking myself, “What would Captain America do?” and I think in this case it works out well.

Thank you Rebelscum.com for the photo. Go over there and click on lots of things to help me thank them.

Is this what the Lucas merchandising empire has been reduced to? Concocting ridiculous variations on existing characters? Just to sell a few more toys?

  2. yo go re Says:

aw, no love for the Training Camp Clone (or whatever he’s called)? I like him - he looks like he got dressed in a hurry. Like he woke up late for his 8am class, and had to run out the door to get across campus in time. If I can walk through six inches of snow wearing sandals, he can be a clone trooper in red pants.

The McQuarrie Concept Rebel Trooper looks like he’s cosplaying as a clam. If that had been a real character in Star Wars, you just know his name would have been Clma-he’ed or Pearlmouth or something…

  3. Paul Says:

GWS-Yes, but considering they’ve made their 8 millionth variation of Darth Vader I guess they’re stuck making all kinds of crazy crap.

    yo go re - Fantastic.

I thinks it´s a rebel mushroom, or a robot in human disguise or …… if mcquarrie figure out Leia starkiller, this one is vader starwars fan killer
