Cloverfield Monster… from Hasbro?

First of all, I’d like to say that this is a 100% pro-Cloverfield website so all you anti-Cloverfieldians are warned. Anyway, it looks like that the Cloverfield monster is going to appear as a toy from Hasbro. Of course, there’s no picture of the toy since the movie has only been out for a few days. This is a pretty classy move considering these days everything is leaked the instant someone even thinks about something.
Hasbro promises the monster will feature “70 points of articulation and incredible life-like detail”, “Authentic sound”, “14â€? tall”, “10 parasites”, “Two interchangeable heads”, “Statue of Liberty head accessory”, and “Special Cloverfield collector’s edition packaging”. All of this for the low, low price of 99.99. Uh, yeah. I’m sure this thing is cool, but it’s odd that a higher priced collectible like this is being made by Hasbro. I’d expect Sideshow or NECA, not Hasbro.
Either way, as soon as a picture hits I’ll post it.

You mean this isn’t one of those places where dramatists come to b!tch about the Cloverfield handy-cam?
(I actually read on one board something akin to “We had to leave the theater 20 minutes in, and my husband vomited in the parking lot from motion sickness.” COME ON!!!!)

I’m telling you, I think NECA, Mezco and the like passed on this because they just didn’t have the overhead to afford it. Look at Mezco’s 18″ King Kong–they’ve still got it in stock. The Balrog was a huge debacle for NECA. And it sounds like Abrams wanted an actual toy, so McFarlane’s out.
It’ll be interesting to see what Hasbro’s product looks like…this could represent a new direction for them.

How about us Cloverfield-indifferent folks? Can we and our motion sickness still hang out here?

That’s a lot of cash to shell out for a toy you don’t get to see. I’ll pass, though I’d love to have my Joes…or my Balrog…fighting one.

*Spoiler*
The cloverfield monster is really the stay puff marshmallow man.
I’d pay 99 bucks for him…
But he better stay puffed!

@GWS… I suppose you can stay… as long as you say you like Starship Troopers.

It will be interesting to see if Hasbro can pull of a $99 toy. I’m hoping they can pull it off. While I will probably pass on it, if they can do an awesome job, I’ll be very tempted.
