Cloverfield Toy is Not Cancelled

Remember that expensive toy monster you didn’t want from that movie that you kind of forgot about? No? I almost don’t either. Well, Hasbro is letting you know that it’s still coming up on pre-order and that it indeed was not canceled.
Woah Hasbro, strike while the iron is hot right? At this point it might ship in time for the release of Cloverfield 2.
Seriously, is anyone out there even remotely thinking of buying of this beast? On the several toy collecting related forums I read regularly, I have not seen a single person saying that they were either excited by this figure or were going to buy it. I know that most of the internet community is negative about everything, but you’d think there’d be one person who was totally excited about the Cloverfield monster toy from Hasbro.

What I really, really want is for someone I know to buy it, ’cause while there’s no way in hell I’d pay more than $20 for it, I’d love an opportunity to play with it, if only for an hour.
I’m curious as to how its articulation will play out, and how stable its poses will be.
I wouldn’t buy it for the sake of what it is, but rather because it would be awesome for dioramas; I can envision great things if someone decides to use this beast in a G.I. Joe or Star Wars diorama.

Oh, I’d buy it for the right price, absolutely. Though it is running as an internet-only item, right? So it won’t hit the TRU clearance racks…
I just think a GI Joe/Cloverfield diorama would be awesome. I’d totally pose it fighting my Balrog.
Yes, I’m one of the 5 people who bought the NECA Balrog.

What’s a “cloverfield” and how did you get a picture of my sister?

She… she said it was okay ’cause we were both drunk and her diaphragm was broken.

I dunno. The toy is fairly cool, but the price is pretty insane, no matter how big it is (unless, of course, it’s life-sized). I still haven’t seen the movie and it’s not really high on my list of things to see.

If this had been available shortly after the movie came out, I might have pulled the trigger on this in my brief spurt of enthusiasm for it.
Now, though, I have no interest. Part of it is the creature design–that spindly, ugly creature is no Godzilla. And of course, it’s way too expensive.
