DC Universe Classics: Finally, a Figure I HAVE to Buy
What you’re looking at above is wave 8 of DC Universe Classics. I had seen that wave 8 had been announced over on Poe Ghostal’s blog, but since I’m really not into the line I didn’t really read which figures were in the wave beyond the first picture he posted. Shame on me, for I would have found out that Dr. Fate made the cut.
Oh thank the maker. I love me some Dr. Fate. I know this is just wishful thinking, but if they would only make the female Dr. Fate, then my life would be complete.
The other figures are pretty rad if you know anything about DC comics second and third stringers. Out of the second string they’ve got Hawkgirl and who doesn’t like her? Putting Gentleman Ghost in there is just a pure class move. A genteel ghost is one of the most under appreciated things in today’s society. Mr. Terrific? He’s worth it alone for his helpful, terrific balls.* I do wonder though if there’s a person on Earth who truly does want a Commander Steel figure.
Now the real problem here is actually finding any of these figures in stores. I’ve seen ten million Batman, Penguin, and Orion figures, but almost nothing from any other subsequent waves. You think I’d see more than one damned Green Lantern somewhere.
*I am not making a dirty joke. Okay I am, but it’s for the comic book fans.

Dude, I was thinking the same thing about the Mother/Son Female Dr. Fate.
Although I DEMAND a Power Girl now. We got Mr. Terrific and Dr. Fate, and I’m promised a Kryptonian in an upcoming boxed set so I suspect that MattyCollector Store exclusive 2 pack is Power Girl and the Earth-DDs.

I’ve never seen a wave of these other than wave 1. Craziness.

yeah I don’t need to worry about collecting this line because I’ve never seen any other than wave 1. they look GOOD but they’re expensive and they essentially don’t exist
I really wanted that Sinestro Corps Sinestro and I will want a Hawkman. but I won’t cry if I don’t find them, instead Hasbro will convince me to buy my 80th Cobra Commander because he comes in a box with Albert Pine, the only black guy from Minidoka, ID

All about Doctor Fate. One Super Powers figure I wanted, but never got. Gentleman ghost, rad. Everyone else- why couldn’t you have been the Spectre? With a Spectre BAF.

I’d say I’d be interested in maybe 2 figures from this Doctor Fate and Hawkgirl depending on whether they can get her wings constructed right. I didn’t like the visible screws on DCUC Hawkman figure’s wings. Just felt like poor design. I’ve heard numerous reports of QC and distribution problems with the line. Mattel has always had problems with distribution and I can attest to that having collected the 2002 Masters of the Universe figures. Anyway, Giganta looks better than her JLU doll figure and probably worth getting every figure to construct her. He face though seems like looke Rene Russo or the recent Red Sonja being published by Dynamite Comics.
