Destro the Movie Figure Aint Half Bad

As much as I have a huge man-crush on Christopher Eccleston, I was really hoping that he’d show up in G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra in a full on metal Destro mask at some point. Well kids, it looks like he will be if the toys are any indication.

If this is what he’ll look like in the movie it’s a pretty damned good representation without the pimpy flair, of course. In fact, I’d go as far to say is that it’s a pretty rad Destro on it’s own and would be a good purchase even if you hate everything about the flick. Even though this looks to be a really cool figure, I’m still hoping that we can see an unmasked version.
This figure is actually available on eBay right now, but let me warn you that if you buy it for over store price you are stupid. There’s going to be a million of these hitting the shelves in a few months.
Anyway, this is really good news. After seeing what Cobra Commander will probably look like in the film in toy form, I’m excited to see that they actually might make some of the characters sort of look like their more classic representations. In fact, I’m kind of surprised Destro doesn’t have three heads and tank treads instead of legs.

Remember man, the Cobra Commander we’ve seen is just the Combat Heroes version, which may bear little resemblance to how he looks on-screen OR in 3.75″ form. I have a lot of hope for the elements of that design (clear facemask, coat, armor) once it is liberated from the silliness of the combat hero form.
And that Destro is freakin’ awesome.

Yes, the movie Combat Hero Duke figure, after all, appears to be wearing a green armoured bodysuit rather than the black of the actual costume and has a head that bears more resemblance to the character’s appearance in the Sunbow cartoons than Channing Tatum.
