eBay Madness! A Super Powerful Auction
Okay, I’ll admit this really isn’t “madness”, but I figured like I’d put it in an eBay Madness because it, much like Richard Gere in an Officer and a Gentleman, has no place to go. I’ve been a little more interested in Super Powers figures recently, mainly because of the announcement of a new 3.75″ DC Superhero line from Mattel. I have a soft spot in my heart for the Super Powers line because it gave me my first opportunity to have Batman and Superman figures. I specifically remember being in love with their Metallo. This metal guy with a brain held a lot of mystery for my developing mind.
In addition to the above named characters I’m also interested in is Dr. Fate, because I just love his yellow helmet. It’s while taking a gander for Dr. Fate figures that I found this guy:

Here’s the auction’s title: “1980’s Kenner DC Super Powers DR. FATE Figure MOC Mint”
I’m glad that “mint” follows “MOC” in that title, because I was really unsure of the condition of the item up until that point. I wish they’d do this with items like ice cream. Sometimes I look at a package that says chocolate ice cream and wonder if it might be vanilla flavored.
The real joy of this auction is something I’ve seen before, but it is hilarious nonetheless:
1980’s Kenner Super Powers DR. FATE action figure. Never removed from the package and the bubble is securely attached to the card. The figure is mint. The card has two staple holes several creases and the bubble is smashed.
Yes, this figure is in great shape… on a terrible, terrible card. This is why “mint on card” doesn’t mean the same thing as “mint on mint card”, which is of course means its not a worthless hunk of crap. The only reason I can think of why anyone would want something like this is to be able to have the joy of opening an old toy without feeling a whole lot of guilt about doing so.

I’m a meticulous (momc) collector and I despised these sellers who uses misleading descriptions to sell off their items. I have to waste my precious 5 mins to use the “Ask Sller a Question” function.

In some circles, “mint on mint card” means a delicious after-dinner treat.
