Ghostbusters!

First there’s a new video game staring all the (important) actors for the orginal film and now Mattel has said that they will be making Ghost Busters toys!
In June 2009 the first 12 inch Ghostbusters figures will be available on MattyCollector.com. The line up is the obvious one that includes the iconic Ghosbusters crew Egon Spengler, Ray Stantz, Peter Venkman and Winston Zeddemore. The San Diego Comic Con in July 2009 will see the debut of the six inch figures. These will be sculpted by the legendary Four Horsemen studios. To top off the awesomness, Mattel will be making figures based on The Real Ghostbusters cartoon series.
Man, as a fan of the Ghostbusters I can’t begin to tell you how awesome this sounds. People bag on Mattel left and right for their mistakes, but damn they have been producing some fine ass figures. One can only hope that the lessons they’ve learned on He-Man and the DC Universe Classics will be applied to make the Ghostbusters an amazing line without as many quality errors.
What say you? Out of any of the figures, I’d lean more towards the six inch scale and I’d be hard pressed to choose between the animated and the movie style figures. Both occupied a special place in my youth.
And yes, I did use this post as a lame excuse to post a picture of a hot chick in a Ghost Buster costume. As far as slutty Halloween costumes go, it’s okay, but where the hell is the proton pack? Why not try just a little to be a little like the source material?

Jeesh, I got credit from you and Topless Robot just for linking to a TNI article…
Anyway, I can’t wait to see the prototypes this weekend. The Horsemen mentioned this to me (only as a “top secret project”–they didn’t tell me what the license was) ages and ages ago, and I’d pretty much forgotten all about it until Mattel started talking about a “mystery line.”

Oh man I am all for this. I don’t do 12″ figures but I WILL get 6″ figures of the boys and maybe a few other characters. Awesomeness.

Poe: I gave you credit because I saw the news on your site first. I figured since you had a link to TNI it was all good.
