G.I. Joe 25th Anniversary Cobra 5 Pack Images Galore

by Paul

If you wanted a lot of images from the third G.I. Joe 25th Anniversary five pack, I’ve got you covered. Be sure to click on the pics to make them extra big.

Here’s Cobra Commander, all decked out in a great gold/silver/black combo:

Storm Shadow here isn’t very retro and he wouldn’t be since they used both his classic costumes so far, but it’s a pretty decent look for him anyway.

The original H.I.S.S. tank driver is here now all we need is a all new 25th Anniversary H.I.S.S. tank:

This five pack isn’t called Cobra Legions just for kicks and giggles, here’s a Cobra trooper repaint.

One of the most interesting figures in this pack is a Cobra trooper complete with head gear and a jet pack:

But wait, there’s more! The following images of the packaging and one extra of the Jet Pack trooper are from a member on a G.I. Joe forum named HissTank.com. The lucky (depending on your views on Communism) guy lives in China so he’s one of the billions there that gets first crack at figures while we wait for the damn boats to arrive. To see the rest of his images, go there and register for a membership.

This pic of the Cobra jet pack trooper makes him even more compelling to me seeing that you can take his helmet and the jet pack off. It’s surprising that he’s got a mask underneath the helmet. Knowing Hasbro, I’m surprised it isn’t Jengo Fett’s head under there.

This five pack is a bit odd only because the first two banked a lot on nostalgia for their appeal instead of just having all the figures in each pack appear as single cards. This five pack is a bunch of variants meant to appeal to core collectors. It would have made a lot more sense to have this come out as a retailer exclusive or something along those lines. Is the set worth it for these variants? At first I thought no, but the more time I’ve spent looking at the images, the more I want them. What’s your call? Do you plan on buying these guys?

this set gets a big, hearty “meh” from me. Black CC does nothing, and while the modern Stormshadow’s design is pretty cool, he’s not different enough to warrant getting the set. Sure, I’d like some Cobra soldiers, but I can live without…

  2. Daniel Says:

I like the air trooper a lot. Storm Shadow looks cool and I kinda like that black Cobra Commander actually. Any word on a Joe set to go along with this one?

  3. Paul Says:

yo go re, that’s how I felt at first, but for some reason now that i’ve been looking at the pics I like it a lot more.

Daniel, as far as I know that is the last 25th anniversary 5 pack, but Hasbro can always change their minds later.

  4. keith Says:

G.I. Joe action figures weren’t quite my era, but these are pretty cool. I think the Storm Shadow is the best of the batch. Too bad they are going to turn them all into complete UN wusses in the upcoming movie.

  5. yo go re Says:

meh - kickass soldiers are kickass soldiers, no matter where their headquarters is. At this point, complaining about them being an international team is right up there with Spidey’s organic webshooters, a black Kingpin, or Daniel Craig as James Bond: if the movie’s going to suck, give it a chance to suck on its own merits, not one random element that dares deviate from the ’80s source…

  6. todd Says:

    hey,

anyone know of any variant sets? I found 2 sets at a Target last night with star wars figures instead of Cobras (darth, 2 3P0, 2 clones).

  7. Paul Says:

todd, I’m guessing that someone bought the set, took out the figures they wanted and put star wars figures in their place, then returned their set because they are assholes.

They’ve been doing that with some of the sets, especially the first cobra set. They have been placing the more common Cobra officer in the place of the cobra trooper so they can sell the trooper on eBay or whatever.

  8. todd Says:

not sure…you can tell it hasnt been open (or they did a hell of a job resealing it) the thing that got me, the clones are ones I have not seen in a package before

  9. yo go re Says:

yes, they went through the complicated and involved process of “re-taping” the plastic. It’s a tough one…
