G.I. Joe 25th Anniversary: Storm Shadow!
If I needed any news to pick me up this week after my downer Republic Commando theft, Hasbro has swooped in to do the trick like a G.I. Joe repelling from a choppa to kick Cobra ass. To celebrate G.I. Joe 3 1/4th scaled 25th Anniversary, Hasbro has promised 25 totally awesome new Joe figures this year. Well, they’ve certainly delivered on their first announced figure. Behold the majesty of Storm Shadow:

You probably won’t believe this, but going back to the whole theft thing I actually owned the original Storm Shadow at one point. It magically and tragically disappeared forever after I forgot it at a church Christmas party. Combine this with the fact that ninjas are inherently awesome; I’ve got a bit of a Storm Shadow obsession. To prove it, check out this pic:

Stormshadow, Supergirl, the dude from Scream, and a pimp enter a bar…
I went through a lot of trouble to make my own Storm Shadow ninja costume, complete with those boots with the split toes which are also known as “ninja boots”. I’ve still got that costume waiting in my closet, just ready for the moment to strike again.
Anyway, if this is any indication of what we can expect from these upcoming 25 figures, color me super excited… and deadly white.

You can’t go wrong with Ninjas. Ninja clones would be better, but hey, that much super awesomeness needs to come with a warning label.
Stormshadow is sweet, mu elder child has the Sigma 6 Stormshadow complete with Ninja hoverbike. Just typing Ninja hoverbike, gave me the chills.
Great costume you completely ruled that year.

It was a pretty wicked night, filled with the mass killing of evil-doers everywhere. Well not everywhere, just at the bars we frequented that night.

Thanks Keith. Ninja hoverbike does rock.
Lol Thanks for the visit Andrew. Don’t give away too many details of our top secret mission.

Aha, it seems we have found someone who can illuminate the mysterious past of The Paul, Lord of the Pug Dance.

That’s an awesome G.I. Joe figure (and nice costume too! hehe). I still have my old Storm Shadow but I’m definitely getting that new figure!

Toyrant, you wouldn’t possibly want to loan me your Stormshadow for… research purposes would you?
I plan on getting an army of the new one, myself.

[...] Oh wait, you thought that was it? There’s more awesome left for G.I. Joe news in the 25th Anniversary department. The new Real American Hero figures (reported on here and here by yours truly) will have card backs that look just like the old 80s Joes complete with file cards on the back. The old O-rings might be gone on their insides, but the new ones will sport articulation similar to that of the super articulated clone troopers, and some sets will have a sound chip that will play the G.I. Joe theme song. [...]

[...] If you’re a regular Toy Bender reader, then you already know my obsession with Storm Shadow. While I am nuts about the original figure, it’s the hooded/grey camo version that I grew up with and cherished. Hell, even though I played with him all the time and made him the “star” of most of my toy adventures, I barely moved his joints for fear of making him all loose like a rag doll. Damn, I was an odd kid. [...]
