G.I. Joe at SDCC Part 2
In the first post detailing the G.I. Joe Hasbro showing at the San Diego Comic-con I showed you the amazing new figure offerings on tap for the 25th Anniversary line. In this short post I’ll share some pictures of some cool 25th Anniversary-like customs on display at the show, which were pretty cool in the “what might be or could be” sense.
First up is one of my favorite figures of all time, the Cobra Alley Viper. Others might make fun of the Alley Viper for his outrageous early 90s day-glo orange and blue camo combo, but those of us with taste look past those poor color choices at one of the greatest Joe figures of all time.

If Hasbro made this figure, rainbows would shoot out of my man junk.
Another cool custom was a Sargent Slaughter. Here are two views of him:

I was never a big fan of the Range Viper, but someone is I’m sure so this one is for you:

Zarana, Zartan’s sister, also made it into the mix of customs. I’m not a big fan of Zarana mainly because once she appeared on the cartoon the Baroness kind of disappeared. Like you couldn’t have more than one expert of disguise on the Cobra side at a time. Bah humbug, I say!

Classic figure Leatherneck made the customizing cut, along with fan favorite figure Shockwave. Unfortunately, I was unable to get a clearer picture of Shockwave. I blame his positioning at the back of the case and not my feeble photographic skills.

An interesting choice in the case was Pythona. She never made it into figure form in the original A Real American Hero line for some reason, but she was a pretty kick ass character in G.I. Joe the movie if you forget that she comes from an ancient race of people that… oh man that sucked.

I always liked Lifeline as a kid, because he was the only figure I had that would tend to the wounded in my massive toy battles. I also got him free as a mail-away from Kellogg’s cereal, so that just added to his coolness factor.

If any figure in this case would actually make it into the real figure cut who wasn’t Shockwave, it would have to be Airtight. He’s a fan favorite and he’s a very striking character that kids might want to pick up.

The Night Creeper ninja was there, just in case you haven’t gotten your fill of G.I. Joe ninjas yet. I’m good as long as they don’t start making Ninja Force again.

Remember kids, these are customs only. If you want them made into figures, write into Hasbro demanding they be made into figures and support the rest of the G.I. Joe 25th Anniversary line. You never know, your wish may come true!
*As always, thanks to Shawn for providing some of the pics. You know the ones that aren’t all blurry and under lit? Yeah, those are his.

I never liked the original Zarana because her hair was always too short and made her look manish. However, the custom Zarana is hot with a capital Z. Zhot. Whatever that means.

Leatherneck and Shockwave were two of my favorite figures. Shockwave because he had a ridiculously-large knife and an uzi.
Zarana = WTF?
