G.I. Joe Casting Update: Snake Eyes and The Baroness

by Paul

According to the internets, Snake-Eyes has been cast in the upcoming live action G.I. Joe film. Ray Park is going to be Snake-Eyes. Park is most know for his role as Darth Maul. He solidified his nerd film acting career as Toad in the first X-Men film.

Considering that Snake-Eyes isn’t supposed to talk and his face is always covered (or it always has been thus far), it looks like they basically hired Ray Park the martial artist rather than Ray Park the actor, because Park isn’t really known for his impressive acting chops. Plus Ray Park’s head kind of reminds me of a potato.

If I sound a little bitter about Ray Park, I am. He’s a nice enough guy and all, but back when he was still riding high on the success of The Phantom Menace I got his autograph at Wizard World Chicago. Most autographs at the Chicago Wizard World will run you about twenty bucks, which isn’t too bad if you want an autographed copy of Willow, and God willing I will someday. Good old Ray was charging thirty five. Yeah, I was a retard for paying that price, but I wanted his autograph super bad. I suppose that he was charging more because of demand and even he didn’t believe he’d get another film role again. Now with this new Snake Eyes announcement, he’s pretty much on his way to becoming the geek film god.

Oh yeah, they also cast the Baroness. I didn’t think it was as big of a deal, but it did give me an excuse to post some eye candy on the site and I’m all about the eye candy.

This is Sienna Miller. She’s your new god now.

Well, with these kinds of announcements here’s hoping that Hasbro is right and the film won’t be the steaming pile of crap that many nerds behind keyboards are secretly hoping it will be.

  1. yo go re Says:

the most important question now is: who will play Scarlett?

  2. Amy Says:

They really charge for autographs? Are you kidding me? And what made him so special that he was asking more? How ridiculous

  3. Paul Says:

yo go re, I’m guessing Lindsey Lohan.

Amy, yep. You can’t get an autograph from almost all of the people from sci fi movies and shows without paying. How the hell else are they going to make money? heh

  4. PJ Says:

I found that last paragraph particularly interesting. Is there a vocal minority that gets all frosted when their sacred cows are tipped over to the silver screen? Are they just afraid?

I’m sure these motives exist, but I have also seen a lot of more optimistic fans that hope the producers will take their cue from Batman Begins. It is possible to update a classic comic book story and please most of the fanbase. It just takes a litte care and work is all.

I’ve seen fan-shops of Miller in the hair and glasses and IMO, she’s not bad. But then looks aren’t everything.

OTOH with Ray Park, looks ARE everything. All he has to do is brush Scarlett’s hair out of her eyes, jump out of a C-130, lay the smackdown on some red ninjas, maybe have some tear-jerky flashbacks, and I’ll be cool w/it. :D

the “fan-shops” (wow, congratulations, you just used the most annoying new word of the day) are useless - you could put that fake hair and glasses on Ray Park and he’d look like a good Baroness. There’s barely anything of Miller’s face in those mockups…

  6. Great White Snark Says:

Wait, the Baroness was all about boobs. Big, ridiculous boobs. Can Sienna live up?

  7. PJ Says:

YGR: (wow, congratulations, you just used the most annoying new word of the day)

PJ: Thanks, I made it up myself. When it becomes a meme, I’ll be making 2% royalties on every use of the term. >;D

YGR: You could put that fake hair and glasses on Ray Park and he’d look like a good Baroness. There’s barely anything of Miller’s face in those mockups…

PJ: True, but is that wishful thinking on the fan’s part, or are we saying everyone looks hot in a black wig and glasses? I know I do. >B)

  8. yo go re Says:

I don’t know what YOU’RE saying, but I’m saying “more hot women should look like Ray Park.” Grrrrowl!

GWS: Baroness wasn’t about the boobs - she was fully covered by her costume at all times. Okay, except for the episode where she was kidnapped in her bikini and spent the rest of the adventure like that. But that was an aberration…

  9. Paul Says:

lol ygr is right about the boob thing, but when I did a picture search of S.M. and saw a couple nude pics I was a little disappointed. The Baroness is at least a full b if not a c. Yes, I’m a disgusting piggy man.
