G.I. Joe Figure Update: Wave 11

by Paul

There are a few pics that have emerged from Previews in the upcoming G.I. Joe toy line that are worth noting. From Wave 11 we get Tiger Force Duke, Cobra Flint, and a fancy ass Cobra Commander.

Flint in Cobra Uniform

I am all over that Flint like stink on rice and mixed metaphors. I guess I’m a sucker for anything 80s cartoon related in the G.I. Joe toy universe, no matter how terrible the source material is.

Tiger Force Duke

I’m not really into the Tiger Force versions of these characters. I love the concept and the return of Tiger Force, but in an effort to make them more “realistic” they totally muted the colors that really made the Tiger Force guys stand out. Bring back the bright yellow pants, I say.

Fancy Man Cobra Commander (not the official name)

Hey, here comes Cobra Commander in his fanciest ballroom attire! Yeah, I don’t think I need this.

I saw these the other day, and my first thought about Flint was, “wow they’re running out of ideas”. I let it process a bit and then realized that he’s entirely awesome. Repaints be damned!

He looks like a fun figure, and a worthy addition to my seemingly infinite 25th Anniversary collection.

Now if I could only find a few more BATs.

Flint’s face looks broken. Maybe Ballroom Cobra Commander punched him when he asked him to dance.

If I wind up buying that Flint in a full-case from a pre-order, it has an appointment with a bottle rocket.

Seriously, I absolutely hate that figure. I’m not sure what I expected of “Flint in Cobra Gear” but that figure is horrible. And I’m on record as being perfectly Ok with repaints.

Dude, you have to see what they’re showing at SDCC. A new Beachhead with partially removable mask, and a new Zartan that was so cool I threw up.

  5. Paul Says:

Yeah I saw them. Unfortunately, I can’t cover it all because it’s everywhere else already. I think I might gather some pics of what I think is awesome and just talk about those specific things…
