G.I. Joe Wave 12 is… Kind of Lame

by Paul

Some of the first images of G.I. Joe wave 12 are out now (at least they are the first time I’ve seen them) and I have to say I’m mildly disappointed.

This wave consists entirely of repaints. Jebus Hasbro, I know you want to reuse figures as often as possible, but an entire wave full of repaints? The major saving grace of this one has got to be Python Patrol Crimson Guard figure. He looks better than I’d imagined he would be, considering how toned down the Tiger Force figures are. I also like Tripwire, but I do have an attachment to him due to the fact he’s one of the earliest Joes I ever owned. I might have to pick up this version only because I can’t find the comic pack with him in it anywhere. If you want all the pieces of the M.A.S.S. Device it looks like you’ll have no other choice but to pick up Tripwire repaint and the recolored TORPEDO who really is a Cobra diver this round. Yeah, I didn’t think they’d pack those pieces in figures that anyone would really want. The cartoon colored Ripper is okay, I suppose, and the Cobra Trooper with red symbol is kind of a waste. The urban camo Storm Shadow is… ugh punch me in the face for saying this… something I might have to buy.

Yup. I’m not feeling this wave- I already have enough troopers, a Ripper and a Tripwire (coming soon) in a comic pack, and as a kid the Python guard always seemed to banana colored. As for Storm Shadow- I like the lower legs and I’m glad they got rid of the trooper thighs, but I’m tired of that head. I don’t need a cobra diver, I’ll have EEls, and I don’t need to re-enact the MASS device water collection scene.
And that’s the only incentive- these monkeys come with MASS device pieces! Curse! Cuuuuursse!

I have my comic pack tripwire (wish they would have made that one tiger force) but i’ll get this just for the MASS part. The cobra commander that comes in the comic pack is one of my favorite figures in the line so far. (only because he has two open hands)

I won’t buy the ripper unless the filecard is different. The world has enough storm shadows. Do they really have to put a stormy or snake eyes in every wave??

I think you ment to say that the one was a repainted torpedo, not a repainted wetsuit. But I will pick up a couple of them.

Mainly it looks like I will be picking up the python gaurd. I have my 10 officers, 10 gaurds will do fine as well. So with 1 troop builder for me in this one (well one in a half) this may be the cheapest wave for me yet. guess that I will have more money for vehicles.

*** on a side not the Tripwire excessories are horible. the line from his detector to the pack never stays in.

I just want one good storm shadow, JUST ONE!!!! the other figures in this wave don’t seem that bad to me, but I’m not really looking forward to them.

  5. Michael Says:

Yeah, this is going to be a great wave to let my wallet replenish. I will get a Cobra Diver or two, but that’s it.

  6. doubledumbassonyou Says:

This wave is absolute shit. I know the uber-fanboys over at the ‘Tank are saying how we should be grateful because this is a “bonus wave” and that we weren’t supposed to get it at all. The only figure I might snag is the Cobra Trooper, somehow I only have a handful of them and wouldn’t mind 6 or so they can have their own unit.

But yeah … this wave is shit.

  7. Cole Says:

Yep, gonna have to agree with the masses here. This is a total repaint. Although, I will absolutely end up purchasing this wave as I am a GI Joe addict. Crack was no problem to kick, but GI Joe… there’s no us trying and Hasbro knows it.

  8. CG76 Says:

    Amazing, more repaints.

  9. Esbat Says:

I demand a Suburban Commando figure.
