Halo Actionclix: The Mother Fuggin Scarab
This post has been a long time in the making, especially considering how lazy I am. It took me forever and a half to upload these images from my camera into the computer and thenceforth to put them on this mighty web blogithing. But finally, here it is as I had hinted at months ago (but everyone probably didn’t see it or forgot about it): A look at my roomate/friend Shawn’s massive Halo Actionclix Scarab which cost a whopping two hundred and fifty bucks. I encourage you to read his update talking about it, but be sure to read mine here… because I am out of news for the moment.

If you aren’t in the know, Halo Actionclix is a table top game from WizKids that let’s you play with Halo figures. I have a few of them, but haven’t gotten around to trying it out to let you know if it’s any good. Anyway, the Scarab was a San Diego Comic-Con 2007 exclusive and Shawn only managed to get his hands on this thing as an impulse by when one of the winning ticket holders (you had to enter a lottery for a chance to get one) didn’t pick there’s up.
You must know that when this thing came in the mail it was in an enormous box.

Inside the box was the real box…

And inside that box was a whole lot of Styrofoam, which contained the dissembled Scarab.

Once it was put together I just had to place a 25th Anniversary Cobra Commander on it for scale comparison. That’s it… scale comparison…

I do have to say that the Scarab looks pretty cool. Since the Scarab is meant for gaming, it doesn’t have much in the way of what a toy would have such as articulated legs or anything like that. It sits there and looks pretty. The biggest problem with this thing is that Shawn was unable to easily take it apart again, which to me seems like it would be essential to owning such a thing. Who has the space for it? You should at least be able to easily take it apart to throw it under your bed if a stray woman happens to be around.
My only other qualm is that this exclusive is actually the “battle damaged” version I’m assuming the Scarab will/is available for purchase. The problem with this is that the battle damage looks pretty lame. It’s just a bunch of makrs on the legs. If you’re going to market it as “battle damaged” it better well have some chunks of armor missing or something… shesh…
Overall though, if you’re really into the Halo game or are an insane Halo collector with a lot of cash to burn I couldn’t see you going wrong with the Scarab. At the very least you could impress the ladies with your massive quasi-toy. Or not.

The battle damage paint job ain’t so bad, but DAMN, I had an attack when I realized I couldn’t disassemble a Marvel Legends BAF once, I’d hate to be in a bind for space and realize that motherlover ain’t gonna come apart without the help of my friends Mr. Arm and Mr. Hammer

Dude. I’d totally use that as a throne for my Sigma 6 Cobra Commander.

“You should at least be able to easily take it apart to throw it under your bed if a stray woman happens to be around.”
Anyone who spends $250 on Halo merchandise is not going to have a stray woman coming over - especially not if they’re someone who’ll spend $250 on a SINGLE PIECE of Halo merchandise.
Though dammit, I have to admit - it looks superb as a display piece for Cobra Commander. I have zero interest in Halo, but that makes me almost want this piece…

You sure it’s only for comparison? It looks like you’re indulging in a fantasy land.. Hehe.. Pardon me. The Scarab looks very impressive! But I would be really scared if it’s the actual robot model, crawling at you and scrapping your feet. Erk… It serves as a beautiful piece of enthusiast’s collection. I wouldn’t mind paying $250 for that, LOL~
Cheers!
p.s/ I think you’d better be worried of the woman stealing the Scarab. She might the interested in the stuff too.. Who knows?

Ha, Monte, you’re dead on. It’s *so* a Cobra throne.

I’ve picked up a a decent of amount of the smaller Halo Clix, but that Scrab, is just way to pricey…even for me…
I wonder how much damage that thing does in the actual clix game though.
I should really find some time to play it.
