Hordak on the Loose
The Masters of the Universe Classics Hordak has finally made an appearance on MattyCollector.com. He’s going to be available for order on June 15, 2009. Hordak’s accessories include a “magik” staff, a crossbow, and a bat. Price is twenty bucks.

Yep, as much as I like Hordak I’m going to have to skip this for sure. I can’t purchase a twenty dollar figure, much less one that has an eight dollar shipping fee tacked on. Hell, I can’t afford toys in the first place, but now that I’ve had a somewhat of a compulsion to purchase Marvel Universe figures and DC Universe Classics, I’d rather spend my little cash on those lines.
And no, I don’t have a problem with his “real” name. The whole fricking concept is ridiculous from the top down, so having silly names for some of the characters is pretty much par for the course.

Look,I know noone at Mattel reads this,or would give a shit if a fan was unhappy, but I’m typing it out anyway.
I love Masters of the Universe. Seriously,I love it. But I can’t do this. They’re generic sculpts with a new head and a new paintjob, and they cost 20 dollars. Of course,if they were 20 dollars and available at Wal Mart,I’d collect all of them. It would still be a huge ripoff, but I’m dumb enough to do it. But no,they are only available online, only for one day due to underproduction, and only available one at a time. THESE ARE THE SAME AS 10.99 DC HEROES BUT COST MATTEL LESS TO MAKE. They can sell DC figures for 10.99,and still make a profit even though they pay DC royalties, but the EXACT SAME THING,when royalty-free,costs TWENTY EIGHT DOLLARS?
Of course,it’s always going to be like this since apparently people with less financial discretion then I will never stop gobbling them up like some kind of sword-and-sorcery bon bons.

Welll…these are probably made in less quantity than DC Universe Classics…I mean, almost certainly. So they probably aren’t that much cheaper.
But yeah, they’re clearly ripping the nerds off a little. And I’m glad the price tag has stopped me from even thinking about it.
He-Man’s kind of a questionable toy anyway. And the cartoon sucked.

I still can’t get interested in this line. I thought the 2002 line was great, but this no line is a big meh. Especially with the prices. They should at least allow collectors to hold figures to have them shipped together to save some money on shipping.

Since when do MOTU freaks have real names?

Mattel: drifting ever-further out of touch with reality.

and oh yeah, P.S.: Beast Man’s real name was supposed to be “Biff Beastman,” according to the show’s bible. Rayquon Razmatazz or whatever is still a better name than Biff Beastman…
