I’m a Fatty

I’ve got a bit of toy blogging block. I have no idea what to write about at the moment, but I wanted to put something up today. Is it better than no post at all? Yes, because my blogging overlords will lash me with electric whips if I have nothing for the hungry masses dying for articles to fill up their workday. Therefore I decided to delve quickly into something that faces a lot of us toy collecting nerds/geeks (Hell, all nerds and geeks) out there… the issue of being overweight. The amount of XXXL comic book character t-shirts at comic shops in relation to the near lack of smaller sizes is just one of the indicators of the size of many of our people. The post title might be a bit deceiving as I’m not really a big guy, but I’ve gained some weight in the gut area and I’ve finally decided to deal with it. Dealing with it means many trips to the gym doing both cardio and lifting, and eating nothing delightfully tasty like cookies and beers. Damn, how I miss cookie and beers.
I’m assuming that there’s at least a couple of you fellow toy collectors out there that may be at least slightly overweight, so I’m throwing it out to you. How do you guys deal with your weight? Is it an issue for you? If you’re a skinny nerd, how do you stay so lean eating all those Hot Pockets? No really, I’d like to know. I’m dying for a Hot Pocket.

I’m a former skinny nerd who put on 60lbs. after moving in with the missus a few years ago. I don’t really live in an area that’s conducive to going to the gym, but I try to stay up on my pushups and situps. Those alone, plus biking and running, if you really push yourself, can do wonders.

I’m almost 20 and I’ve been skinny pretty much my whole life, but I’ve had an on again off again girlfriend for the last year that supports my toy collecting 100%(it’s why I keep coming back to her).
On top of that, she is a really great cook. Comfort + lots of good food = gut. So while she remains thin slim and slender, I’ve been forced to go jogging everynight. Granted she’s so cool that she doesn’t care about my weight, but sometimes I wonder if she’s too cool.

I’ve always been more of a skinny nerd, though I have put on some weight since college. I was starting to get to the point where I was a little overweight, so I started eating less and walking and I’m moving back to being a skinny nerd.

I use to bike a ton when I was a kid and just recently bought one to save on gas and run around town with. Its excellent thing for constant exercise.
Wanna lose weight and get some muscle, join a pro wrestling class and start doing the workouts for stamina traning and taking bumps. You’ll be in the best shape of your life. Even if you hate that stuff, it makes you appreciate how much of an art it actually is to be in top shape and not kill someone.

I lost the excess poundage when I quit my stressful job. I am actually healthier and more fit than I was 2-3 years ago.

After a car accident I was 300+ pounds, after 2 years of that crap I started dieting and exercising. Now I’m down to a slightly more healthful 220+. Once I get some more gumption I think I’ll go back to dieting and exercising and try to hit 180 but seeing as there is no missus or girlfriend or potential hottie to mack upon at the moment I’m pretty happy being a bit tubby.
At least now I can run around, hop skip and jump, and climb multiple flights of stairs without having to stop and catch my breath.

Thanks for sharing everyone. I’m glad I’m not the only one that’s struggling.
Wow Esbat, congrats on losing so much weight. Usually, I’m the opposite, I lose weight to get the girl, then get fat when I have her in my clutches.

Well you’re married now, and apparently not having sex, so I suggest getting her into your sexual clutches.
Through bribery.

I’ve gained about thirty pounds in the last year or so, and I’ve just started a post-wedding program to lose all of it. Yeah, I know I should have done it before the wedding, but I was busy, okay?

Dude, the same thing happened with me. I gained weight and then waited until after the wedding to do something about it. And damn, you don’t look that big in your wedding pic. Are you sure you can afford to lose the 30 pounds? hehe
