Indiana Jones Toys in 2008

by Paul

With the release of the latest Indiana Jones 4 trailer, Indiana Jones mania has officially begun. Hasbro’s latest Indiana Jones press release outlines the future of Indiana Jones in the toy world. Here’s the meat of the release:

INDIANA JONES SOUND FX WHIP

Kids love pretending to be their favorite characters when they aren’t being jerks, so this is a no-brainer. The whip has both electronic whip cracking noises and it plays the Raiders of the Ark theme song. It doesn’t look much like an adult’s collector type toy, but it sure as hell might be fun to have one at work.

MUTT WILLIAMS™ SOUND FX SWORD

Hmmm…. so Shia LaBeouf’s character’s name is Mutt Williams? Well, the idiotic name well is being dipped into once again by Mr. Lucas. This toy is Mutt’s (shudder) sword that comes with two versions of Mutt’s switchblade. Yeah, that’s not going to cause ANY problems with parent’s groups at all.

INDIANA JONES 3 ¾? ACTION FIGURES

There will be 30 Indiana Jones figures from all of the Indiana Jones films, so you’ll get to play with young Indiana to man-he’s-really-showing-his-age Jones.

INDIANA JONES 3 ¾? DELUXE ACTION FIGURES

This looks like it’s going to be a mix of two packs and figures that will come with a really big accessory, much like those seen occasionally in the Star Wars toy universe.

INDIANA JONES 3 ¾? THE LOST TEMPLE OF AKATOR PLAYSET

Indiana Jones fans will get to see a rarity in today’s market, a playset. Sweet.

MR. POTATO HEAD: TATERS OF THE LOST ARK

Since Mr. Potato Head is basically every property that Hasbro owns, this version isn’t much of a surprise. My fiancee thinks he should have been called Idaho Jones and I tend to agree.

Now, in contrast to my GI Joe comment. Here’s a line I’ll certainly pick up.

  2. Keith Says:

You can also use the whip to reenact Bill Murray’s turn as the Whipmaster on SNL.

I agree with the Idaho Jones moniker, that would have been awesome.

  3. Paul Says:

Oh my god, I loved the Whipmaster!
