Lego Gunship Revisited and Other Lego Offerings

by Paul

Thanks to our fine friends at Wizard Universe.com (and a chap named Zach Oat), I got some Star Wars lego info from that very fine website. The biggest (news for me at least) is that the Lego Gunship will make a return.

Way back in the primordial days of Toy Bender I lamented the fact that I never had bought the Lego Gunship and I wouldn’t be getting one any time soon since they had been selling for a ridiculously high amount on eBay. Well, the chance to own a not super insanely priced one has come again. While it certainly is cheaper than some of the prices I’ve seen them go on eBay (they were taking orphan souls for MIB ones), it’s still pretty god damn expensive. The retail on these babies is 110 ten bucks, thirty dollars more than it’s original release a few years ago. I know that we have to factor inflation and the price of oil, but thirty bucks here? I can’t help but thinking that Lego saw that people were willing to buy them for five hundred bucks second hand so they slapped a high sticker on this one.

One really cool addition to the Lego line is the addition of Arc Troopers to the world of Lego mini-figs. It’s been awhile since they made clones with the Phase I armor (easily the coolest clone armor*) and ARC troopers hadn’t really existed by the time they stopped making them.

Other notable sets shown on Wizard universe include a V-19 and the AT-TE. Head on over there and check them out.

*Yes, I am trying to start a big battle between Phase I and II fans. I’m that big of an a-hole.

Definitely one of the coolest Lego sets. I even bought an extra one, that I found on clearance, to build the AT-TE lander version of the gunship.

  3. Shawn Says:

Wow, XeQUae, you actually found the first Gunship on clearance somewhere? That’s crazy!

Your AT-TE lander version sounds pretty cool, do you have any pics of it somewhere? I only slightly modified mine so it can carry most of the 40-some Lego Clone Troopers I have.

  4. Paul Says:

My name is Shawn, look at me I have 40 lego phase one clone troopers that go in my Lego gunship blah blah blah!

Yes, that was sarcasm driven by insane jealousy.

  5. Great White Snark Says:

Ok, that Lego version looks much cooler than the ones in the movies. I’ll give you that.

Phase I helmets are too stupid. And since that’s the only difference between any of the armors, Phase II/real Stormtrooper armor wins…

    Yay, it’s working!

  9. KLS Says:

I love the ARCs in phase 1 armor and I love the commanders in the phase 2 armor. I don’t really care much about what the clones wear actually.

But anyways, Lego is super expensive here in Singapore retail, what more compared to ebay/amazon etc. The price is simply ridiculous, it is purposely targeting the adult collectors cos they know they will splurge on it and not kids.

Sigh. I really wish they lower down cost so all of us can enjoy a piece of history.

  10. Paul Says:

Kls, that sucks for kids and collectors that don’t have a lot of cash!

By the way, your comments keep getting caught by the spam filter… I’m doing my best to rescue them though.

The real question is, will there be phase 1 battle packs, otherwise it seems lego relaunching phase 1 clones slightly pointless.
