Lego January 2008 Catalog: Indiana Jones!
The first Lego catalog of 2008 has hit my mailbox like it was a ginger child through marriage and there is a ton of great stuff in it. Mostly involving…. INDIANA FRIGGEN JONES!

Aww man, now this is what I’m talking about. Who would have ever thought we’d ever seen Indiana Jones Lego sets? What a wonderful world we live in… if you ignore all the suffering.
We have some great pics here of the sets after the more button, so be sure to click on them to see them in a much bigger and beautiful size.
Temple Escape
Now this is one hell of a busy Lego set that recreates the infamous first few minutes of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Hell, you even get the plane, the bolder, and the idol. Out of the three I’ve got to say that the idol is the must own from this set.
Indiana Jones Motorcycle Chase
This is a nice small set if you just want an Indiana Jones figure. What makes this set spectacular is this guy right here:

Since this is the very first (and hopefully not the last) Sean Connery mini-fig you don’t have a choice, you must buy this.
Race for the Stolen Treasure
I like how these sets completely avoid any religious subject matter entirely. It’s not the Ark of the Covenant, it’s “treasure”. I don’t mind it so much, except that I’d really like the Lego version of the Ark. My petty qualms aside, this is a very nice set especially since you get three “guards” (read: not Nazi’s) an Indiana Jones, a horse, and two vehicles.
Indiana Jones and the Lost Tomb
Here we get the first appearance of my least favorite Indiana Jones female lead, Marion Ravenwood. Oh wait a minute, Willy was insanely annoying, sorry Marion. There’s not a whole lot about this set that gives me the cold sweats, except for the hieroglyphics above the tomb of C-3PO and R2-D2 conversing with an Egyptian. Sweet.

Indiana Jones Lego sets, what could be finer. I wish they had done this 20 years ago.

no you don’t - 20 years ago the sets wouldn’t have been anywhere near as cool as these.
And let’s all thank Toys R Us for putting these out before Christmas, for everyone’s festive enjoyment…

Dang these sets are fine. Loving the boulder. The greatest touch would be if on Sapito’s back they had some spiders drawn on there.

“no you don’t - 20 years ago the sets wouldn’t have been anywhere near as cool as these.” That’s most likely true. If you look at the first space sets, they look primitive to the stuff they are putting out now.

They all look awesome, well except for Marion Ravenwood. I saw the Target setup the other day and the Indy sets all looked pretty cool.

I’d love to set up a scene with one of those not-Nazi trucks filled with not-Nazis, and have it run over a not-landmind (i.e., wad of firecrackers strapped together).
