Lego Summer Catalog Part 2: Batman and Star Wars
My last installment covered Lego’s space battling Mars Mission sets and the mind blowingly cool Castle sets found in the 2007 Summer Lego catalog. Now it’s time for some licensed Lego action!
First on deck is Batman. While there weren’t a lot of new sets that got me excited, the new Bat-tank is pretty awesome. (Click on the pic to make it super sized)
My only problem with the Bat-Tank is that it the inner geek in me takes over and has to complain that this thing has no armor to protect it from things like mortar rounds therefore rendering it completely useless as a tank. Still, it looks fuggen cool and I guess that’s more important to Batman. The set also doesn’t come with any mini-penguins like the ones in Batcave set. Every Batman set should come with a handful of mini-penguins.
As for the Star Wars sets, there’s a nice money shot of the star fighter seen in The Phantom Menace.
One of the coolest sets I’ve seen in awhile and one of the fewest great vehicle designs to come out of The Phantom Menace, is the Droid Federation MTT, which I first saw at Star Wars Celebration IV. Here’s a much better picture than the ones I was able to take.
One of it’s best attributes is that it comes with a shit ton of droids. In case your wondering that’s a metric shit ton, which is the equivalent of two U.S. ass loads.
Finally, Lego also has the Jedi Starfighter with hyper-space ring that’s available this year.
All I can say is, kickass.

If it’s metric, shouldn’t it be a shite tonne?
Personally, I’m not too jazzed about the upcoming Batman sets. I got my Scarecrow and Riddler with Arkham, and that tank is just too goofball for me to buy into.
Honestly, the thing I’m most excited about from the catalog is the Market Street set designed to go with the Cafe Corner. Even the new Mars stuff fails to fire the imagination…

Dude, seriously… I really liked that set but was too afraid to put it on the site lest I be called a pansy.
