Man Builds G.I. Joe Playsets of My Dreams
Over on the G.I. Joe forum Hisstank a fellow decided to share some pictures of two playsets that he made and they are simply awesome. What I really like about them is that he took the visual concept of the two most famous G.I. Joe bases (the first Joe headquarters and the Terror Drome) and created much larger (and more realistic) versions of the sets. Check this out:
G.I. Joe Headquarters:
While the G.I. Joe Headquarters is very obviously made up of a lot of Styrofoam coolers, you’ve got to give the designer major props for creating such a good looking piece from such simple parts.
Yeah, this guy pretty much thought of everything when it comes to making a fully functional G.I. Joe headquarters, except for maybe a nearby town for the Joes to get drunk at the townie bars and have sex with the local whores.
Cobra Terror Drome:
The Terror Drome loses it’s middle launch bay in this version, but it gains so much more. For instance, there’s actual space to accommodate an formidable army.
That M.A.S.S. Device should give you a good idea of a sense of scale.
That’s a Trouble Bubble party right there. I think I’d be able to get about four of those before the wife stabbed me in the eye and told me it was enough.
Wow, that’s a lot of M.A.S.S. Device crystals. It looks like Cobra Commander had his dreams realized in the world this playset exists in.
LOLZ!!! I totally wondered how those Rattlers would take off until I remembered they’re VTOL. I’m so dumb.

I wonder how much he would sell this for.. I think I would pay $500 a set easy myself. He could make a very lucrative business out of it.

As awesome as this is I don’t think he could sell them, really, not the finished pieces. But I think if he made some plans and lists of necessary parts, he could probably sell those.

well I saw that he spent about 1,400 to build them both. (pluss tons on all those figs and vehicles) After knowing the entire scale of the joe headquarters, i bet if I added a 0 to my initial intrest, he would come off of them. so $5000.00 I bet they could be bought. Everything has a price. I got Pauls soul two years ago on ebay for 3.50 plus .99 shipping, and it came with a MOC Ninja force zartan.

HOLY CRAP!!!! That is the best set I have ever seen. This guy is my hero lol. Also, he couldn’t sell the made sets bcause of copy rights, but he most certainly able to make blue prints and material lists and sell those. I would deff be interested in that for sure, and as far as him selling the one he made, I don;t know what he would charge but since it;s one of a kind and sooo many man hours into making it. I would bet more like 15-20k.
