Marvel Universe News-a-thon
The winner of the fans choice figures top five is out and I have to say that I’m really disappointed in everyone who voted, but first here’s the list:

#1 – Archangel
#2 – Winter Soldier
#3 – Havok
#4 – Mystique
#5 – Mary Jane Watson
First of all, they were going to make Mystique, Archangel, and Winter Soldier anyway. The point behind these things is that it’s a chance to get figures they wouldn’t otherwise make. Secondly, Mary Jane Watson? Who wants a figure of the completely worthless Mary Jane Watson? I think the only purpose she could serve is if I swapped her head with another figure to make her into a generic civilian. Here is where I say the unthinkable, so prepare yourselves: I’m glad they retconned the Mary Jane Watson marriage out of Spider-Man comics.
In other news, now the Marvel Universe toys from Hasbro are out and a seemingly huge success despite quality concerns and there extremely over priced mark up, more comic two packs have been revealed. The figures are based on the eighties blockbuster comic Secret Wars that was in turn inspired by a toy line, so I can’t think of anything more appropriate for this line.
So far the figures in Wave 1 will be:

Spider-Man and Thunderball

Wolverine and Human Torch

Captain America and Claw
I think I may sit out on the Wolverine and Spider-man figures, but that Captain America is a must have for me. Dare I say, I’d be willing to wait it out to get this one. I’m a sucker for the wings on the head version. Anyway, I’m guessing they’ll show up in stores costing around fifty bucks if the skyrocketing trend of 3 3/4ths figures.
Wave 2 (no pictures) will be:
- Black Costume Spider-Man/Magneto
- Iron Man/Spider-Woman
- Hulk/Cyclops
I’m pumped for Spider-Woman, because she’ll most likely be the black costumed version. More importantly, Magneto will make a really nice addition to the line which is in horrible need of more bad guys.

Yes, but we already know your tastes are suspect: we expect better from people who make comics professionally…

When Marvel Legends first came out, they were 6 inches, came with a stand and a comic and I could get them for less in some cases. These really should either come with more accessories or a build-a-figure or cost less.
Can’t say I’m interested in Mary Jane, but I’ll probably pick up the others.

CAP! CAP! CAP! oh and WINTER SOLDIER! yeah, that’s right, I voted for him!

I’m all for more female figures/characters, so MJ winning the poll doesn’t bother me. And Brand New Days was just shit storytelling, all around, and now the Marvel Universe is in a place that is just beyond stupid (Norman Osborne in charge. Really?)
How the heck did Havok sneak on there? The rest I can understand…but Havok? Really? Does that mean they’ll do Vulcan and Corsair too, so we can have the whole quartet of whiny Summers boys?
Some of those comic packs are going to save me some single pack purchases, thankfully.

Maybe I missed something, but why put characters that are already coming out on the poll? That just splits votes because of stupid people.

i voted for winter soldier. and archangel i think. mary jane is a complete waste and mystique and havok are half-waste. i’m looking forward to getting the cap comic pack. also the one with cyclops. any word on a release date?

Maybe Paul didn’t like the marriage, but I think this poll should show Quesada what a moron he is for retconning the past twentysome years. In s poll to see which action figures fans wanted,Mary Jane beat actual super heroes.

Hey,I just came from my local Target, and they had 1 Human Torch, and 1 Johnny sans flame. Is one some sort of rare chase type of thing? Along the same lines, they had a blue “stealth” Iron Man (pretty shiny for a stealth variant) and a black and silver Wolverine, who kind of looked like that Image comics character that was a silver Wolverine.
I like these figures (I got Spidey and Logan),but I hope Hasbro doesn’t kill it by introducing all these different variants and such. Too much too soon, and this could turn out like the Batman Animated line.

Some toy site out there should start a petition to get a Circuit Breaker figure.
While few people will probably remember who Circuit Breaker is, I’m sure more than a few fan boys would be more than willing to purchase a female figure wearing nothing but silver electrical tape.

They are also releasing the 6th and 7th place vote getters and announcing it at SDCC. I happy with everything but Mary Jan being up there, I was hoping to see paperbag spidey or Taskmaster.
The mark up at Wal-mart is all wal-mart. I get my figures for 6.85 all day long at a place where I live. so I don’t complain too much, I just feel sorry for everybody else.
