McFarlane Toys: Spawn News from Hell! (Spooky, hey?)

Like I’ve said before, I’ve never been able to fully dig the whole Spawn universe. However, I do make an exception with the Spawn 30th series, also known as The Adventures of Spawn.
The sculpts for these figures look awesome. They’ve got a real Justice League Unlimited/Teen Titans inspiration that really works for the figures. It also gives the Spawn franchise more of a feeling of adventure (hence the name, I suppose). I really can’t take all the dark brooding and evil killers and demons and junk normally found in Spawn comics. I think that’s why I was disappointed with the franchise starting with issue #1. These figures, on the other hand, pretty much represent what I thought the series was going to be like when I first laid my eyes on the cover of that first issue of Spawn. Maybe there can be sort of comic book spin-off from this toy series, but that’s most likely wishful thinking. Regardless, The Adventures of Spawn figures look like they’ll be coming out in December. Here’s hoping they’ll have at least some basic Justice League: Unlimited type articulation.
Specific Impressions:
*I can’t tell you how much I enjoy the clean look of Spawn X. Damn, that’s some sweetness right there.
*I think Omega Spawn is fairly nifty as well. Still, I don’t think he’d be one I’d necessarily have to buy.
*Normally, I don’t go all hornball over women who are plastic, but that Tiffany the Amazon is one hottie.
*Codename: Cy-Gor is a great looking monkey. The only thing that would make him better is if the smaller chimp would come out of his chest.
*Overtkill is a DUMB name.
Edit: Silly me, I just found an online comic book for Adventures of Spawn.

Nice. I like the new variation on the theme.
I agree with you on the Spawn X he’s is definitely tight.
Omega Spawn: Can we say ‘Samus Aran’! I’d still buy it though.
Tiffany: Rawr! you go Grrl.
Codename: Cy-Gor: This figure reminds me of Gorilla Grodd or Monsuier Mallah. Me likey.
Overtkill: I have the massive original figure and despite the dumb name is a cool figure. This one leaves me a little cold. Not feelin’ it.
This series probably has the largest number of figures that I’ve wanted in quite a while. Great post!

Lol “Rawr”. Cy-Gor is a total rip off of those characters mixed with the super apes from a Dean Koontz novel I can’t remember the name of. I think he’d be a lot cooler with a beret like Monsuier Mallah has though.
Glad I could help you. I didn’t know about them until I looked at the roomie’s Previews magazine. Found in your nearest comic book shoppe.
The only thing I was dissapointed in was that these figures are 6 inches. I was sort of hoping they’d be Justice League scale so you could have them interact. Oh well!

[...] 2007 by Paul That’s right, the Adventures of Spawn continues with a series two. Way back when the first series was announced I gave it the triple thumbs up approval and while I was slightly disappointed in the final product, [...]

I def like this series much better than the others. The nice clean look is much nicer than a cluttered one.
