Mickey Mouse Optimus Prime… Who Asked For This?

by Paul

Update: The Blogging Gods have smiled upon me today. Not only did I get a link from Great White Snark, but Topless Robot has linked to this post. Thank you both and welcome visitors from those sites.

Edit 2: Wow, I also got a link from Neat-O-Rama! Super sweet, I love that blog. Thanks for stopping by Neat-O-Rama fans!

Who asked for this Mickey Mouse Transformer? I know I certainly didn’t. On my my big old list of wants, a Disney based toy is nowhere to be found and they really can’t make one more appealing by dressing them up as Optimus Prime.

This is exactly the same realm of useless junk as the Disney characters melded with Star Wars figures. Why in the Earth would you want a Goofy as Jar Jar Binks?

The reason I’m asking these things is because I seriously don’t know anyone who actually likes Mickey Mouse. Why should anyone actually like Mickey Mouse anyway? In the realm of cartoon characters he’s nice enough and all, but I can’t think of a single cartoon that he’s in that I like aside from Mickey’s Christmas Carol and I attribute my love of that film to Scrooge McDuck. Out of all the Disney Afternoon cartoons that had me fall in love with the characters associated with them like Duck Tales or Tailspin, Mickey wasn’t in any of those shows. He’s just this entity out there that doesn’t do a hell of a lot to justify his existence. I guess maybe these kinds of figures are to die-hard toy collectors as most Wii games are to die-hard gamers.

Still, that truck fits perfectly with the style of Mickey Mouse type cartoons.

So how far off the mark am I? Are you guys(and hopefully gals) totally in love with Mikey Mouse or do you not care at all like me?

Mickey is ok, but the truck is cute!

There are some people who will buy anything with that cursed Mouse’s likeness attached to it. Trust me. I even know some, personally, have shared apartments with them.

    The horror.

My 3-year-old is a big fan of the mouse. And Optimus. So he’d love this. I, on the other hand, am a total whore for things that transform, so I’ll be getting it.
