NECA’s Gears of War Figures
As reported by me way back in August, NECA had gotten the license to make Gears of War figures. Now after long months of waiting, we finally get to see how they turned out. Big Bad Toy Store has this image on it’s pre-order page:
Man do they look sweet. The Locust looks as ugly as ever and that’s a good thing. Marcus Fenix StabKnight or whatever his name is looks fairly pimp despite his dumb do-rag, and I’m definitely needing me a Cole Train (my favorite character in Gears of War).
If that image wasn’t good enough for you, NECA posted some money shots of the figures as they are wont to do.

The figures feature 12 points of articulation, which isn’t a whole lot but hopefully is enough to get them into a couple of different poses. It would suck if they were basically plastic statues, which NECA is guilty of doing sometimes.
As much as these figures look cool, you do have to wonder if they would have benefited on getting these out the door a bit sooner. Halo 3 stole almost all of the momentum Gears of War had on Live. I still like the franchise, but I haven’t played a single game or really thought about it all that much since Halo 3 was released. Time will tell if Gears of War is still hot when these are released in the Spring of 2008.

Damn not another great toyline to spend my money on…
Time for a 3rd job!
I bet they announce Gears of War 2 right before they release these to start the hype train.
