Pictures of Interest
If you’ve never had the chance to attend a big comic convention or other event of significant size where many nerds may attend, then you may have missed the elaborate toy displays that are sometimes found at such events. I have a bunch of pictures scanned that I’ve finally found a use for on this blog. I hope you enjoy these!
The first set I’m going to post is obviously a very detailed battle from Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, Lego style. It had a lot of fantastic touches, like the big battle on one side and the Jedi arena battle on the other side. If you looked really close at the Lego people, you’d find Easter Eggs like an appearance by Harry Potter. I had to reduce the image size, so hopefully I can still convey how great this was.

Sweet. I love how detail some of Lego displays can be. that was pretty awesome. I’ve never been to a con, but I’m hoping to in the near future. Great Post!

Thanks! I usually go to the Chicago Wizard World Convention, but now that I’m in california I’m hoping to make it to the San Diago one. These pics actually came from a Star Wars celebration 2 in Indiana. I guess the next one is going to be in LA so I hope I can make it. Maybe I can get some sort of press credentials with my blog or other website now. *prays*

[...] Posting those pictures of the Star Wars: Attack of the Clones Lego battle scene the other day wasn’t the wisest move on my part. After staring at those pictures while I located, resized, and posted them, it really made me want one of those Republic Gunships. When the Gunships first came out I thought they were pretty wicked cool, but they were costly coming in at about 90 bucks. I’m a huge fan of the Gunship in general (I’ve got the action figure scaled version and the small Titanium Series edition), but since these Lego Gunships came out in the ultra-lean years for me (I’m in the normal lean years now), there was no way in hell I could have afforded one. I also wasn’t as pro-Lego as I am at the moment, so that didn’t help justify such a large expense. Anyway, I’m staring at these pictures and I think, “Damn I should see if I can get one of these Gunships. I don’t care if it’s in the box or notâ€? so I went to eBay on a search for toys. Holy Crapballs Batman! The Lego Republic Gunship is now going for at least 180.00 dollars on up. If you have on in the box it’s going for an astounding 300.00 dollars. God isn’t it always like this, when you don’t want something the price will rise nearly ten fold later, but if you buy a collectable thinking it will cost a lot more eventually, it never does. I’d ask you readers where I could get one cheap, but now that I just told you how much they cost now you’d be foolish to sell one to me for a decent price! I’ll have to find someone to trick into selling me their’s for cheap. That’s right, Lego has turned me evil. [...]

[...] The pics are from the same convention I snapped the previous Lego display pics, which was a Star Wars Celebration convention. I’m not sure which one it was right now, but then again I can barely keep my eyes open at the moment. By coincidence, this set prominently features an Imperial Shuttle in a scene that didn’t take place in Return of the Jedi as Luke is being brought on board Vader’s craft. Cool hey? [...]
