San Diego Comic Con: The Star Wars Saarlac Pit Playset
While I couldn’t make it to the San Diego Comic Con this year (big sigh), I am following the goings on with much interest via the internet like the rest of you slobs… and I mean that in a nice way.* One item in particular that caught my eye was on Rebelscum.com. Rebelscum took some shots of a Star Wars playset. That’s right… a new playset! This one is based on the infamous Saarlac Pit scene in Return of the Jedi. Here’s a preview of a pic you can find on Rebelscum:
I guess the biggest negative here is that it contains the beak that they added for the Special Edition, but overall it’s looking good so far. Sure it’s just a pile of plastic and a Skiff, but it’s a pile of plastic with a Skiff that hasn’t been available for years and more importantly, it’s got a lot of potential. I can’t even begin to guess how many kids out there have reenacted that scene from Jedi, including me who didn’t even have a Skiff. Oh man, my parent’s encyclopedia sets doubled as many different things in my childhood, including trash compactor walls.
Anyway, one other thing worth checking out of all the repaint vehicles being seen at Comic Con is an Gunship with a space pin-up on the side. Awesome pants!
*And don’t think I’m letting you off if you went. I hate every single one of you that got to go while I hung out with my wife at home.

Uh I hate to let you down Esbat, but I said I was hanging out with my wife. Married people don’t do those kinds of things.

Wow, your parents sound aweful buying you books instead of toys. Sound like that fits into the crimes against humanity category.

when the only negative you can come up with is the beak, then that’s a set with no negatives…
