SDCC ‘08 DC Infinite Heroes

by

Most everyone seems to think DC Infinite Heroes sucks, which is sad because A.) It’s a new 3 3/4th scale DC line, B.) Its got a wide variety of figures, and C.) DC’s 6″ line is flipping awesome. The big negatives that hold it back are the horrendously large hands on the male figures and the extremely limited articulation. Still, I’m sort of excited for a few of these figures. There were two that caught my attention in particular at the San Diego Comic Con.

Power Girl

Most people like Power Girl because of her enormous breasts. That’s definitly a plus, but I like her for the sheer fact that she’s kind of a Supergirl and I’m sure any regular Toy Bender reader would know I’m a Supergirl nut.

Dr. Fate

I love Dr. Fate. He’s like Dr. Strange with a better helmet and a super confusing backstory. Okay, maybe I don’t like the fact that he’s been like ten different people, including a woman. Hey, while you’re at it Mattel, how about hooking us up with a female Dr. Strange?

The line is a bit of a disappointment to me poseability wise, but there are a couple I want too, namely Adam Strange.

It gives me hope that I can get a few nicely sized, proportionate figures of the obscure characters that haven’t made it past the blocky JLU line yet.

  2. Great White Snark Says:

So, I like Power Girl for her huge personality, so you can just shut up.

  3. dv Says:

Adam Strange doesn’t even have his raygun. That’s what killed the line for me. Gordon doesn’t have a gun either. Such promise! The hands are too big and I can get over that… but at $7 per figure at TRU… with no accessories? That is pretty harsh.

  4. Paul Says:

dv, I’ve seen them for five bucks at Target.

  5. lamartherevenger Says:

well ask and you shall receive.

  6. dv Says:

It’s true that I’d pay $5 for Dr. Fate or Green Arrow, but the lack of accessories is pretty boggling I think. I might just stick to JLU.

  7. Esbat Says:

Paul… I love you. You’ve got good taste. PG and Dr. Fate are the whole reason I read JSA.

  8. shaun Says:

if only DC and Marvel decided to go into the 3 3/4 line when I was still actively collecting 3 3/4 Star Wars figs…

    Kara’s always cool!

  9. Michael Says:

I found these figs in Target yesterday for $5 as well, and realized Adam didn’t have his ray gun. What the heck is that? I’ll just have to take my Barbeque’s water nozzle or whatever and give it to him.

  10. Jodé Says:

When I typed in “Powergirl” on the google image search (don’t ask) I found one with more joints. 3 3/4″ too!!!
