SDCC ‘08: Star Wars Goodness Part 1 (Clone Edition)
Thanks to Toy Bender’s official photographer Scott McEachen at San Diego Comic Con 2008, I’ve got a bunch of pictures of cool upcoming collector’s items. Yeah, you might have seen them elsewhere, but only I have the finest insight on the world of what’s cool in toys.*
The first few posts will cover the Star Wars figures seen at the con. While I’m certainly not as big into Star Wars as I used to be, Hasbro did manage to pull out some figures that will keep me at least semi-interested in Star Wars toys in the near future. Before we officially get started let’s put out the alert:

Coruscant Landing Platform Trooper
You might be thinking that they’re getting to the bottom of the barrel when it comes to clones that were in the actual live action films and you’d be pretty much right. It’s funny that the last time I watched ROTS a month or so ago I thought to myself, “I wonder how long it will be before we get to those guys?” Well, here we are!
Commander Faie
I’m guessing that the clone army was made up of a 1 to 3 ratio of Clone Commanders to regular grunts. The rest of the army was made up of specialist units. I think this fellow was released in a comic two pack that I already own, but he’s buried somewhere so maybe a single card purchase isn’t such a bad idea at this point.
Saleucami Trooper
Every time I see this guy’s name I think of salami. Mmmmmm salami.
501st Legion Join-Up Clone Trooper
I haven’t seen many details about this guy, but he’s a Wal-Mart exclusive that appears to be over priced. He comes with some sort of Army of the Republic ID card that you can put your picture on and while this is great for kids, I’m scared to think of how many grown men will be walking around with these in their wallets… including me. As a side note, it does look like this clone killed Uncle Owen.
That’s about the only clone stuff that I noticed that was really new, but I’ll put more up if I run across anything, so now on to some regular figs.
There were also a clone that I hadn’t gotten a picture of in the case. You can him and a bunch of other figures at Hasbro’s presentation over on Jedi Insider.com.
Space Clone Trooper
What sucks about this guy is that he appears to be in the animated style line. Please Hasbro, make him as a more realistic sculpt.

Faie is also being released in the EIII scout trooper armor with a jedi. Instead of a flip visor it’s a totally removable helmet. It’s purdy cool. Not throw up cool, just cool.

I think you got confused with Cmder Keller with the Galactic Marine comic pack.

Well, since he looks almost exactly the same, the confusion is understandable.
When it comes to clone troopers, animated style armor is pretty similar to “real” style, so I’ll be getting these new ones when I have some money…
