SDCC ‘08: Star Wars Goodness Part 2
Thanks to Toy Bender’s official photographer Scott McEachen at San Diego Comic Con 2008 we’ll continue our look at the new toy goodness found at SDCC ‘08. This time I’ll turn my sexy gaze onto the rest of the Star Wars offerings:
Jodo Kast
If you can’t get enough Boba Fett repaints, this guy is obviously for you. The rest of the figure offerings in the cases really did nothing for me, however there were a couple of figures that I’ve only seen on Jedi Insider’s Hasbro presentation that are fairly noteworthy:
A Space Stormtrooper
Crazy Alien Pilots
Just look at their gigantic heads!
That Cart Thing from A New Hope
Never in a million years did I think they’d make the little cart that shuttled the pilots around in A New Hope. Crazy!
One comic pack that was at the show really irritated me:
Clone Emperor vs. Luke Skywalker
I hate to break it to you, but the EMPEROR FREAKING DIED IN RETURN OF THE JEDI! I cannot deal with the Expanded Universe, because of idiotic ideas like this. Accepting a returning Emperor leads to further horrible ideas like a returned Emperor that wants to becoming Han and Leia’s baby. It’s just retarded.
Now let’s get back to the awesome with some battle pack coverage:
Millennium Falcon Passengers
Hitting just in time for Christmas, the Millennium Falcon passengers may look like a collection of rehashed figures that you already have and they just might be, but they are actually an awesome choice if you purchased the new BMF. You see, these figures come with accessories that work with the BMF, so if you missed them in their previous incarnations (the thing that hooks on Luke’s arm came with a figure from a few years ago) then you can just get this set. Sweet!
Disturbance at Lars’ Homestead
This “ultimate battlepack” is due to release 09-19-08 as a Toys R Us Exclusive for $49.99. Sadly for you sickos out there, the set doesn’t look like it will include charred skeletons. What it does include is a part of the Lars compound that doesn’t make it a playset, but certainly makes it desirable for those looking for something to help them create a diorama or at least reenact some great whiny Luke scenes.
Saarlac Pit
I know I covered the previously, but it’s still wicked cool, especially when the figures are positioned in the tentacles. The Saarlac Pit will be a Target Exclusive on 11/01/08 with a retail price of 59.99. Does anyone else think that the plastic sand could be modified to have real sand glued on? Would that make it look more “real” at all?

So now that Hasbro’s making a 3 3/4″ Marvel line, what’s the odds of getting a 6″ Star Wars line?
A 6″ Star Wars line in the Marvel Legends style is pretty much the only way I’d ever get back into Star Wars, I think.

I’m thinking the chances are slim to none considering that
1. The line is healthy as is.
2. Production costs are rising so a brand new 6″ inch line might not be the most profitable idea in this climate, which I think is one of the reasons why we are seeing more 3 3/4ths.
But what do I know? I don’t think I have any interest in a six in Star Wars figure, except for maybe one clone and a Boba Fett.

I’m perfectly fine with 3.75″, as long they churn out new characters, better articulation (like GI Joe) and details.
