SDCC ‘09: He-Man (again!), Ghostbusters!
More He-Man, more Ghostbusters! Okay, Mattel managed to not disappoint too much at this year’s San Diego Comic Con.
He-Man
Out of the Masters of the Universe figures announced, there have been more aside from Battlecat that has got my boxers in a bunch. To name but a few, there’s a glow in the dark Scare Glow (I have an original SUCKERS!) as well as a Moss Man that’s actually mossy. Sweet!

Now here’s my dilemma. I really want to get into this line, but I don’t want to have to log into some website at a specific time in order to get the figures, so now I’m really considering getting a subscription in order to get one of each. The only problem is that I might end up with a bunch of figures that I don’t want.
Ghostbusters
Another Mattel line that’s got me thinking six inch (that sounds odd) is Ghostbusters. I don’t want to have to buy all of the guys, but it would seem wrong not having the whole team. The 12″ Busters are pretty kick ass as well, with lots of great details.

While the world of the Ghostbusters doesn’t really have that many characters besides the ‘busters themselves that will attract non-hardcore fans, but I think plenty of people will want at least the main Ghostbuster.

In a way Scare-Glow is the most exciting figure so far, ’cause he’s the first that hasn’t made me think, “Yeah, it’s cool, but the 2002 version was better.”
Actually, that’s true of Battle Cat, too; the Classics version is just as much an improvement over the 2002 version as the 2002 version was over the vintage.
I can’t afford to get into this series, plain and simple, and for the most part that doesn’t bug me (until they start getting heavily into 2002 stuff, anyway), but I really, really want He-Man himself.

I just want Andora… for sexy reasons.

The MOTUC stuff has me salivating. I can’t believe we’re getting a green Goddess; I’ve wanted a toy of her since I read the very first minicomic more than 25 years ago. Trap Jaw/Kronis is amazing. Scare Glow’s head sculpt is as menacing as Skeletor’s should have been(although I like the “creepy clown” kinda vibe Skeletor’s head has). I don’t get many 12″ figures, so I’ll be passing those Ghostbusters, but I am planning to get the 6″ versions. The details on those proton packs are exquisite.

WTF is up with the green Teela?
