Star Wars at Toy Fair 2008: The Clone Free Edition Part 2
Here’s the final and third part of the Toy Fair Star Wars coverage. Thank god.
Star Wars Clone Wars
There are scheduled to be a minimum of 23 Clone Wars figures dropping in 2008. Collectors will might note that some of the figures will sport some sort of gimmicky action feature. If you take a look at that horrible arm on Yoda, you’ll know what I mean.
Obi-Wan Clone Armor

Here’s the animated version of Mr. Wan in his clonified armor. Nice.
Yoda

Yoda suddenly has elphantitis of the arm.
Anakin Skywalker

Notice the Darth Vader like armor? Man, could this kid have made it any more obvious?
General Grievous

This version of the General looks pretty cool. Hopefully he’s not the coughing version seen in Revenge of the Sith. Ugh.
R2-D2

Who doesn’t love R2? This version is pretty cool because he’s got those arms that came out. Nice.
Battle Droid

Yawn… a Battle Droid.
Comic Packs
There will be 15 comic packs coming out over the next year, so all you EU fans should be happier than a pig in slop.
Asaaj & Tol Skorr

It’s good to see the return of Baldy McBadass!
Anakin & Durge

Durge drinks SURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGE. God, remember that crap?
Cade Skywalker & Darth Talon

Antares Draco & Ganner Kieg

In ToyFare #127, the ToyFare crew was asking where the Star Wars Legacy figures were. Well, here they are. Darth Talon is such a cool looking character that the two pack will be almost impossible to pass up.
Dengar & Fenn Shysha

Princess Leia & Tobbi Dala

Lando Calrissian & Stormtrooper - Wal-mart Exclusive

Anakin Skywalker & Count Dooku

The Wal-Mart exclusive comic packs street on 7/1.
Star Wars Evolutions

There were a couple of Star Wars Evolutions packs that were shown. Out of the two, I really have to question if they might as well throw away the whole Evolutions theme and just call it a three figure pack. How are the pilots evolving? And Padme is just wearing different dresses. Either way, hopefully this will calm some of the wierdos who want a figure of Padme in every single dress.
Battle Packs

In May Toys R Us will get a couple of Battlepacks that don’t look too shabby. The Hoth patrol pack looks good if you haven’t gotten a Wampa or a Tauntaun yet and the STAP attack will be a decent purchase for army builders.
Vehicles
There were a couple of non-directly related clone vehicles at the show that were fairly decent for those in the market for more vehicular action.
A-Wing

The green leader A-Wing will be available, complete with pilot Arvel Crynd. This is a Wal-Mart exclusive that hits stores 7/26.
Aayla Secura’s Jedi Starfighter

This repaint is for those of you who like the Swedish bikini models or the Star Wars universe, the female Twilek. In this case it’s Aayla Secura and her ship is available exclusively to Target on 3/23.
The Force Unleashed Jungle Rancor

While technically not a vehicle, this Rancor is designed for riding. If you need a Rancor painted like a French lady, then look for this Target exclusive in April.
Federation Spider Droid

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love the Clone troopers but I really think Lucas dropped the ball with the droid designs. This is okay… but not something that I’m never going to want. This hits all stores on 7/26.

Screw the CW line, I’m eagerly waiting/saving up for the comic packs! More badasses and Mandoas, wondering when they’re gonna make Skirata and Vau? And finally Leia in Hoth weather outfit to go along with my Han!
The Wal Mart’s exclusive are crap, the stormtrooper is fucking cheesy, these are more like rejects that have been slapped with the exclusive tag to help sell them off!
Agree with you on the Evo packs as well, but who cares I just want those rebel pilots loose, and we’ll have another a-wing pilot to boot too! Sweet!
Apart from all those, there’s nothing much else to look forward to.
