Star Wars: Catching Up
I’m back to pretty much not giving a damn about Star Wars toys again, because I have mostly everything I’d want and not much has been shown to get me riled up during SDCC this year. There are a couple of interesting news items that I feel I should report, however. The first is the possibility of a “playset” that would reenact the burning of Darth Vader’s corpse:

Now this set isn’t going to come out, they’re just trying to gauge interest. Still, Hasbro has gotten a little morbid the last few years. First there was torture rack hand, the Lar’s Homestead just before they were shot and possibly burned alive, and now this. Granted, it is kind of neat, but I don’t think I’ll ever have a need for it.
The second bit of news came out of the blue for me (possibly because I haven’t been paying attention), but I was just made aware of the fact that Hasbro will be re-releasing the McQuarrie concept Star Wars figures in boxed sets:

Now, this is good news for those who still want these things because the value has dropped like a rock on the older figures. This is bad news is you want some of the figures (like I do), but you don’t want some of the garbage ones. Not to knock the work of an artistic genius, but that Chewbacca is terrible and that Rebel Trooper isn’t so hot either.

Honestly, I want the burning Vader set. To me it gave me closure as a child as to why Vader didn’t disappear when his handicapped, albino face was revealed at the end of Jedi. So its the next best thing to a big ass poster of the moment.
As for the McQuarrie boxed sets. FUCK THAT NOISE! What the hell is the point of the exclusives if they’re just gonna up and rerelease them? They better be like Sam’s Club exclusive for christmas or some shit or I’m gonna be hella pissed.

I’ve got the concept Snowtrooper and concept Stormtrooper and both are fantastic pieces.
