Star Wars Celebration IV: Bring on the Clones
I’m back from Star Wars Celebration and I gotta tell you, I’m both sleep deprived and wired on caffeine so this is not a good combination. I realize you’ve been waiting for a few updates from me on the whole experience, so I’ll be quick and speedy with one to tide you over.
Hasbro had a lot more to offer than I thought they would, in fact they showed almost all of the figures that will be available in the upcoming year. I took a bunch of pics of the ones that I thought were the coolest and most worthy of Toy Bender’s geek love and will split them up in a series of updates. This first part will deal with…

Clone troopers. Duh, what else did you think I’d talk about?
First up is a Target exclusive battle pack full of sweetness:
You might recognize the paint scheme of these clones (and droid) is from the rancor decorated gunship first seen in the Clone Wars animated series. These clones are meant to compliment an ARC-170 fighter in the same deco, which I’ll post in a future update.
This next guy I geeked out over pretty bad last week and I’m ecstatic that I managed to see him at the convention. I don’t know how I withheld from smashing my fist through the glass and liberating this poncho accessorized clone, but somehow I was able to content myself with merely taking a picture.
Most of the clone action coming out over the next year is made up of the ever popular paint variants of figures that have already been released. There was an unnamed grey clone commander (please correct me if I’m wrong on the color, I’m pretty color blind), who I’m not even sure of where the heck he is in Revenge of the Sith. If anyone has an idea let me know, since I’ve decided to devote my brain power on knowledge about clone troopers in Star Wars instead of anything remotely useful like basic outdoor survival skills.
There was also this guy, who I’m ashamed to say I lost his identification:
Sorry to be lame, but I told you I’m still strung out from the trip. There had to be some casualties in bringing you all this awesome.
There are more Episode II style clones on the horizon if you’re a fan of that armor style. One trooper in particular that stood out was the clone commander that will be sold individually with different color variations:
Are you worried that your new colored commander will have nobody to command? Well worry no longer! Hasbro is re-releasing a plain white, super articulated Episode II style clone. I say it’s about damn time since the Episode II clone action has been spotty at best.
Among all the repaints, there’s also a few troopers that will be re-released like the ever popular 501st clones and the red shock trooper clones. Hopefully these figures will satisfy the needs of hungry troop building fans out there for the rest of the year. If you are still unsatisfied however, there are some other troop building figures that were just as kick ass, and maybe even a little more so. What? Is this clone heresy you are reading? Perhaps! Keep checking here for more updates!
