Star Wars Celebration IV: Rebels
It’s the fourth in the series of Hasbro photos I took from Celebration IV. I didn’t realize how many figures were in those cases until I had to sort through them all. The good guy side had plenty of great representation with a few minor characters getting mixed in with the main heroes of Star Wars.
First off, here’s an interesting figure that I never thought would be made, Han Solo on torture rack. It’s the kind of figure that you think would be great, but after seeing this figure I actually found it pretty disturbing.
You can almost smell the burnt flesh.
In the Battle Pack arena comes a great entry with our favorite hero, Luke Skywalker. He comes packaged with his trusty mount and the Wampa that was saving him for breakfast.
C-3PO will be packaged with Salacious Crum, you know that little guy that laughs at all of Jabba’s bad jokes. What’s cool is that C-3PO’s eye is hanging out of his socket like it appeared in Return of the Jedi.
R2-D2 isn’t that much of a departure from other R2-D2s released, except for his accessories. He comes with the makeshift wooden gurney that the Ewoks used to carry him to their village and the net that everyone was trapped in, thanks to Chewbacca.
There’s finally a version of Lando that was never produced before, Lando in his “smugglers outfit”. Since the outfit seems so close to Han’s in Star Wars: A New Hope, I’m guessing there’s some sort of smuggler fashion scene or smuggler store. Ralph McQuarrie himself appears in toy form as General McQuarrie, an Empire Strikes back Hoth style uniform.
For you Rebel Pilot fans, a new A-Wing pilot with removable helmet was on display. Even though I skew toward collecting only clones and Imperials, I got an unnatural love for the A-Wing that carries over to this guy.
There was even some great McQuarrie concept figures for the Rebels. Aside from the butt ugly Chewbacca who is available wherever scalpers fail to pick him up, there were characters like Star Killer Hero who I know almost nothing about except it’s a damn cool figure because she’s a female Jedi.
Another great McQuarrie Signature series figure was the Han Solo who is notable for being a beared blonde guy with a cape.
Sure to further anger Star Wars collecting nerds who also happen to be giant babies, the next must have McQuarrie two pack that is available only as a convention exclusive. Concept Obi-Wan and Yoda will be available at the San Diego Comic-con a little later this summer.
In the Expanded Universe line of comic two packs, Luke Skywalker will come with his wife and former attempted assassin, Mara Jade. Seriously, who thinks that Luke would dig a girl after watching Return of the Jedi? That guy has asexual bachelor written all over him.
