Star Wars Celebration IV: Vehicle Action
The world of Star Wars toys has seen it’s ups and downs when it comes to the amount of 3 and 3/4th scale vehicles on the market. It seems these days the current business model doesn’t support vehicles as much as it used to. All of the vehicles displayed at Celebration IV were re-releases or alterations of previously released vehicles, so there are no pictures of the upcoming AT-PT yet or (hopefully someday) a AT-TE. You can also forget about seeing any nifty play sets either. Still, the vehicles at the show were decent in their own way and worth checking out.
Keep on the lookout for the Target exclusive ARC-170, this time in the Rancor deco scheme. This is the kind of thing that might be a huge hit, because the 29.99 suggested price point is fairly close to the magic 20 dollar mark and the Rancor decor is fairly popular.
Here’s a pic next to the exclusive battle pack in the same deco for a bit of a size and coolness comparison.
A long time requested vehicle of sorts appeared at the show. It’s the Jedi Starfighter Phantom Menace style complete with its hyperspace ring. This thing looked pretty cool and would definitely rule if hung from a ceiling.
Don’t feel left out, fans of the original trilogy. A Y-Wing is finally making a return, this time as a Toys R Us exclusive. The last one was on store shelves in the late 90s and was almost impossible to find. Let’s hope this one is a little more common.
Finally, here’s the 181st Squadron Tie Interceptor. Sure this is just a Tie Interceptor with red Stripes. But RED STRIPES! It’s the equivalent of Malibu Stacy getting a new hat.
Now Toy Bender army, I’m going to make it your duty to buy one if not all of these vehicles. We need more vehicles produced and the only way we’re going to see that happen is by purchasing these. I’m sure you can make this sacrifice for the good of toy collectors everywhere. And parents, buy your kids some vehicles. We’re counting on you!

Red stripes? What the…? Is that so police don’t mistake them for actual Imperial starships?

Well, the first 3 vehicles are cool.
