Star Wars in Your Face
The 2009 Toy Fair had lots and lots of Star Wars news and since I’m only mildly interested in Star Wars toys these days, I decided to drop my thoughts (mostly) in one post. I’ve gone through Jedi Insider’s Star Wars coverage from the 2009 Toy Fair and commented on what interested me the most.

Wow, how stupid. Qui-Gon Jinn and the Eopie farting animal from the 10th anniversary celebration of that embarrassment known as The Phantom Menace. This is for all the Star Wars collectors that drive me nuts with their, “make this obscure character no one but four of us care about” and “why don’t we have a *insert retarded looking beast here* toy yet?” type of pleas.

I have no idea who this chick is, but I needs her. She can go along with the two dudes that I have no idea who they are that look just like her so I can have a power trio of crazy awesome.

Too bad I used the phrase “crazy awesome” previously, because that’s how I feel about this Republic tank. Uh how about jawesome? Yeah, that works.

I’m sure there some sort of EU explanation for why this one is so much fancier than the Y-Wings seen in the original trilogy. I like to think that they just went through a poor design phase. It’s like cars in the 1980s.

Dear Baby Jesus, what have I done to deserve to not be able to afford or have room for something this awesome? Was it because I drowned that old woman in the well? I’ll admit that I’m not perfect, but who is?

I’m such an idiot for little things that add to the background world of toys. In this case it’s the people mover seen in Star Wars: A New Hope.

Almost as exciting, nay more exciting, is the fact that they are finally releasing the gunner bubble things for the Gunships as well as a couple of the Phase I pilots. Unfortunatly, you only get one turret per battle pack. My psychic powers are going crazy… I foresee even more returned battle packs filled with junk figures in the future.

I have no idea who that chick in the black and red is either, but she is indeed awesome. I have a strict “no Star Wars toys” policy, however, and it has not led me wrong.

Nothing I hate more than some purists whining about Kyle Katarn getting an action figure when Anonymous Background Alien #7,895 remains action figure-less…

The Turbo Tank is pretty awesome.
Glad to see they are finally releasing some decent pods for the Gunship. Hopefully they won’t look too big on there.

holy f’in crap, I know more on this subject than you nerds, which makes me a level ten uber geek. the original Y-wing (pictured above) has armor on it, it was extremely difficult to remove the armor to repair the ship (which had to be done often) so the mechanics just left the armor off. Which is why the Y-wing from the original series looks so bad.
and the girl is an imperial knight from the Star wars legacy comic book.

That sweet ass Y-wing evokes some serious toy lust in my heart, as do the A-Wing I keep seeing at Wal-Mart and the B-Wing I keep seeing at TRU.
But the “armored up/then unarmored b/c the maintenance was hard” explanation is just too silly for words.

lol, yeah it is pretty stupid but it is from the “The New Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels”

Oh I know all about the various permutations of the Y-Wing, the evolution of Inmom’s Z-95 series that eventually resulted in the Rebel Alliance/Alliance of Free Planets/New Republic/Galactic Federation of Free Alliances/Galactic Alliance’s swing-wing starfighter fetish, and the names of those members of the Imperial Knights identified thus far, but I just didn’t feel like mentioning it.

- Just what I need. Another Qui-Gon.
+ That CW Y-Wing looks pretty nice. And I must be the only one who’s willing to buy into the EU explanation for the armor. Makes sense to me. Man, I loved my original y-wing. All my friends had x-wings. I went with the y-wing. I’m still happy with my choice.

So you don’t want Qui-Gon and his horse, but somehow the EPCOT-reject people mover is worth spending money on?
