Star Wars Lego Speeder Bikes
Because of my recent obsession with Legos, I finally broke down and opened a small set that I’ve had sitting around for years. Yes Toy Bender fans, I opened some toys and it was liberating.

As you can see, this particular set is the Speeder Bike set that came with a Lego Jedi Knight Luke. This set is numbered 7128 and it was released way back in 1999. What’s funny is I’ve had this thing for so long that I actually forgot that I ever bought it. Come to think of it, I don’t even know why I purchased it when I did. I was at a low point with hardly any toy funds and my interest in Lego products was virtually none. Regardless, I came across it one day hidden in a pile of stuff and it was like Santa had left an extra Christmas present.
The original retail price was around 10 bucks. I figured that since this was a Lego Star Wars item with two rare trooper mini-figs that it had to be worth more than that. Sure enough, I looked it up on eBay and saw that they were going for 25 dollars and up. If someone is willing to pay more than double for it, then it had to be cool enough to open. In moments I was building the small Imperial vehicles. After I got them assembled, I realized what I’d been missing this whole time. The speeder bikes are a nice representations of the movie counterparts and the Scout Troopers are simply awesome. The included Jedi Knight Luke is a nice little bonus.

What’s the lesson learned here? Legos need to be put together and not sitting in a box, unless you’re hoarding Lego sets with the hopes of one day selling them and retiring. One good thing about keeping the set in the box is that I had some extremely delayed gratification. So if you’re into that sort of thing, go out and buy some Legos and wait several years before opening them. If you can indeed wait that long.
