Star Wars Starship Battles Preview #2

It seemed like there was a great interest from readers in the last update I did about the upcoming Wizards of the Coast Star Wars Starship Battles war game so here’s a link to their second preview of the game. (Be sure to tell them I sent you and they should send me a review copy of the game.)
Preview two shows us that yes, there will be starfighters available for attacking the bigger capital ships just like in the movies. It doesn’t show the scale of the ships, so I’m hoping that the they look at least somewhat realistic in respect to each others size on the game board.
This preview let’s us in on two big things. The first is that not only will there be X-wings (duh), but since Star Wars is all about people there will be heroes and personalities from the movies having some effect on the game play. Hence, we are shown Luke Skywalker’s X-wing. Like all good hero types, Luke’s X-wing has some bonuses associated that will boost his own side. The force also comes into play as he can affect the other side. Sweet!
The second most telling thing about this glimpse at the game is that the Naboo starfighter seen in The Phantom Menace is present. So this pretty much confirms that the prequel ships will be available for play. Hopefully, Republic Cruisers their associated craft will make an appearance next! What’s great about the Naboo starfighter is that it basically sucks. It looks like all it is good for is swarming and taking out weaker craft. With one of these though, you can pretend you Anakin and “Whoops!” your way to victory.

Nubian starfighters = style over substance. Just a bunch of fancey boy planes. I do think that they cornered the market on chrome. Those ships are blinging. I’ll take a good ol’ correllian freighter or tie interceptor over them any day.
I bet the x-wing is as big as the star destroyer. No attempt at scale. Just my guess though.

I actually found a link that showed the boxes of these things and while the capital ships are much bigger than the fighters, they aren’t what you’d think scale would be.
